If you actually have any verifiable proof that any government agency is forcing the industry to limit production, please supply it.
we don't have a 'pump it out of the ground' supply problem so much as we have a transport and refinery capacity problem. Seasonal blends, mandated ethanol mixes are friction in the mechanism that are entirely gov't imposed. Regulations and impediments to transport and refinery are gov't imposed obstacles. I'm not saying all such regs have no merit obviously, but there are quite a few that are vacuous.

I'm sorry, but why would the producers do anything to create a shortage to increase prices?

In the worst year for the company in four decades, Exxon said it lost $22.4 billion in 2020, compared with a profit of $14.3 billion in 2019.

A lot of it has to do with shale oil production I believe. It is very expensive to produce oil this way comparatively so when the price of oil cratered last April (-$38/ barrel for West Texas crude! And yes that is negative $38/barrel) ( https://www.statista.com/statistics/466293/lowest-crude-oil-prices-due-to-covid-19/ ) many shale producers went offline. Now, with demand and prices up they will slowly start coming back online.

There is this too. Between the Texas freeze last winter and Hurricane Ida this year refineries have taken a hit.

now I know why there were so many hybrids and Tesla’s lolz
the joke is on them. Soon they'll be paying out the ass for electricity. Ok maybe not so much Washington with it's hydro power, but CA is going to get a very hard lesson in economics, spot prices and the stupidity of not having your own generating capacity.

Really????

We are driving $100K cars with a gas guzzler charge and now complaining about fuel prices?

Life must be really good if this is all you ladies now need to bicker about.

Just enjoy a country where this is possible on a mass scale.

We aren’t in China or Russia where these cars would be true unicorn sightings.
I’d like to inform you my car was $20k and I’m broke af

pump topped out at $85 last night, still didn't fill the truck up.

next week once my bronco is back on the road, I am looking at over $100 to fill it up. I remember when it cost me under $25 for it...

So lucky...91 octane is over $5 a gallon here in Cali.

Driving up to Long Island stopped at the Sunoco on I95 in Maryland. $4.11.9. Had the wife’s Volvo. 550 miles on a full tank. Not bad.
next time buy fuel at US-17 and I-95 on the south side of Fredericksburg VA (technically Spotsylvania) or Dale City/Woodbridge a few miles north. You'll save a good bit than giving money to the communist regime of MD.
