We may be moving to a new house, and the garage is really big. It's only a 2 car, but because the house is split-level, the ceiling is like 16 feet high...anyone here install a lift in their garage? I'm thinking that I could get the Mustang up off the ground and put something like a Focus RS underneath  :ford:

Be mindful of the garage door being open and having clearance if you have a car on the rack up high enough for another to fit under. You'll probably want a 4 post rack as well if you plan to have easy access to the car underneath.

Yea, definitely want to be able to access the car from underneath.

The garage is deep on one side, also - kinda like tandem parking, but I dont think it's deep enough to fit both cars lined up. However, I could position the lift far enough back that it would clear the garage door when it's open.

I have four 4-post racks and they're great for storage. HOWEVER, the car is still sitting on its wheels which limits you to exhaust and oil changing. It'd be nice to be able to do brakes and suspension stuff.

I just picked up a lift. Keep your eye on Craigslist. They come up from time to time. I got mine from a wife that ended up with it after a divorce and the ex-husband never came to get it out of the garage. Less than 4 years old in great condition. With original warranty card and receipt. Included the sliding jack rail with pump jack to get the wheels off the platform (for brake work). $900. I hired 3 guys on CL for $150 to help me get it onto my trailer and away I went.

This is my next lift. Granted you can't park under it, but when it's not in use the post are not in the way like a conventional 2 post lift. The downfall is you either have to cut a hole in the floor or plan for it during new floor work.

Rotary brand lifts are the way to go. Not my favorite lift style but if it suits what you need do it.
