Guess it still needs work as my dealership doesn't exist in the list.

Honestly, while sounding like a great idea, it’s pointless. The dealers will charge what they desire. For example, In the early summer of 2021, a local dealer had $30-50K ADMs on every GT500.. The dealer was speculating that the 2021 GT500s were going to be the last made due to continuous parts shortages. Towards the end of Fall, those ADMs dropped to $10K.

With the recent EPA ruling concerning the gas guzzler tax, I believe that the 2022 GT500s are going to be considerably more expensive than the 2020-2021 models, on top of the recently-announced price hike. But, if the 2022 GT500 price does not further increase, the EPA ruling might partially explain the almost $5K price hike on the 2022 models, if the price increase is not due to ”normal” parts inflation. Ford might have had a heads-up that the EPA ruling was coming.

What is this new EPA Guidance? The EPA guidance has not changed since 2012. Current guidance is here: https://nepis.epa.gov/Exe/ZyPDF.cgi/P100F3YZ.PDF?Dockey=P100F3YZ.PDF

CAFE has nothing to do with Gas Guzzler Tax.
CAFE rules have been around for a long time as well and have to be met at the the corporate level. The Guzzler Tax is a separate process at the individual vehicle level.
If Ford wants to build a 17 mpg Mustang, they still can. They just have to build enough Echo-Boost/Hybrid/ E-somethings to offset in the CAFE calculation. Nothing new - been going on for decades.

Good in principal. The bottom line is supply and demand. If you don't like what it costs, don't buy it. Someone will, and they are the ones who lose. Not you. If there is only 5 cars available, and 10 people want them, they are going to sell for higher than if there were 10 available. Otherwise the dealership is leaving money on the table, and not looking out for its own best interests.

It's been shown time and again that there are dealerships that won't mark up. Just do business with them and support them with your $$$. However, they likely won't have the car you want. Why? Because they are charging an artificially low price, which means more people will go to them.
