Hey Fellas -

Looks like my Voodoo is starting to eat significant amounts of oil. In 3 weeks it went from full to the very bottom of the dipstick.

Anyone know what would be considered 'normal'?

Ford says up to 1qt in 500 miles. Full to bottom dot is 1qt. Imo fords normal is a bit excessive but I just buy extra oil now. How many miles total on your car and how many over the three weeks?

I just don't see how that passes with the EPA. They are hard core on burning oil and emissions.

Just shy of 10k and certainly put more than 500 miles on in the last 3 weeks.

Appreciate it fellas and I'll carry extra oil from now on.

EPA has their hands full with diesel right now but who knows, maybe up next is low volume sports cars

Ford recommends checking at every fuel fill. Initially I was at 1qt/1000 but after break in I've been around 1qt/2500

Because of the posts I e read related to this absurd consumption I'm now paranoid and check oil every fill up and keep a very close eye on that pressure gauge. Never have been this nervous about oil consumption before. Kinda sucks.

Has anyone noticed a difference between Rs vs others, particularly when it comes to engine failures?

My car has 3k miles on it. 800 was from previous owner. I just put my third quart in last night. Seems a bit excessive to be honest. I am hoping it tapers off over time. If not, I guess I will buy a case of oil. I hope it is not an indicator of engine longevity.

Everyone with the consumption issues, do you have catch cans installed? What mods? I haven't personally noticed any consumption yet, but I haven't even made it to first oil change.

Also - are these cars with the old filter or new? Lots of soot on the exhaust tips? How hard are you driving them on average? Daily drivers?

Sorry for all the questions just trying to get a better understanding of the conditions.

I'm also at 1qt / 2500 miles. I'm due for another oil change in about 500 miles which I plan on switching to Amsoil 5w-50. Going to see if consumption changes at all.

Mr. Cinci, I did my first oil change at 1000 miles. Currently, I'm at approximately 2300. Two oil catch cans..... getting some oil collected on the 'dirty' side. Old style filter (car was built on Oct. 28, 2016). I made sure that the Voodoo was 'broken-in' correctly. No noticeable oil consumption before or after the first oil change..... The car hasn't seen any track time, however, it gets plenty of 'spirited' driving. Oil is checked at least once a week. So far so good.... but time will show.

Ford recommends checking at every fuel fill.
Pg. 32 of Supplemental Manual, "Turn the engine off and wait 15 minutes for the oil to drain into the oil pan."

People behind me at the pumps really get pissed when I tell them I am waiting for my oil to drain...

JN66, hope it's nothing major but if there's a change in your oil consumption, I'd be checking it before you start it everytime. Good luck.

just out of curiosity..... are any folks who are loosing significant amounts of oil using an oil catch can? I wonder where it's all going. Ive never heard of oil smoke and to me 1 qt in 500 miles is a lot.
