The Barton is a great height, and I originally got it because it fit with the Raceseng shift knob perfectly. It was a little bit of a pain to put in, but nothing unreasonable. Here's a pic with how it sit height wise: https://i.imgur.com/yYKdAZS.jpg

I had an MGW in my last Mustang and it was always too stiff and notchy for me. This was a great compromise to get a shorter throw without making rowing the gears a chore.
