Does anyone know if the stock GT intake box and tube can be used with just the GT350 IM?

If yes, I wonder the effect it'll have on the upper rpm's (maybe not as much HP)??

Yes if you also use stock TB. But I reckon with high RPM nature the stock intake could hold it back a little.

Lets say this:

Stock IM, TB, Air box modded & Lund: 455HP
350 IM, Stock TB, Stock modded air box & Lund: 475HP
350 IM, 350 TB, 350 CAI & Lund: 500HP

So I think you need to conclude are you after max HP, best drive ability or a mix of the both. :)

All HP figures based on UK RHD manifold, US manifolds add 10HP, long tubes add 20HP. :)

You're a fountain of information, thank you!

How about 350 IM, stock TB, 350 CAI & Tune?

I believe the stock TB fits the GT350 IM on 1 end and the GT350 CAI on the other ??...

This expect around 490HP, the 350 TB is worth 8-10HP after 6200rpm, I dyno compared the two.

Stock TB needs blowfish adapter fit 350 IM. 350 CAI will fit stock TB, just tighten it down more.

Track Apps:
0-60 - 4.7s
0-100 - 9.9s

My launch is essentially walk off the line as if your next to a cop car so nice tidy launch and then floor it. Its a manual so not the easiest things, no doubt a perfect and aggressive launch would net a few more tenths.

Though more power does next to nothing for 0-60, I achieve 4.8s bone stock, my mate with 850HP and an aggressive launch has done 4.5s, there are guys here practically stock doing it in 4.6s as such 0-60 is all down to grip, how fast you row the gears and launch technique, power won't really help.

0-100 and quarter mile is where power comes into play as a completely stock GT manual does 0-100mph in about 11s, I've seen as low as 9.9s again with gentle launch.

FWIW: I'd posted this onto a few V8 owners, they've since publically ran with it all (they're not on the forum) they're reporting the same gains on full stock (engine) cars with just removing the filter. So, there's definitely (as if just Gibbo doing it didn't prove it) a benefit to be had just by removing it! Currently had about 7 guys reporting gains on it. ANd it's a stupidly simple mod to do.

Anyone not "Mod aware" for doing stuff on the car, it's a simple circle clamp ring that you use a flat head screwdriver to undo, 2 clips at the top and top right of the airbox you then slide it back to the bumper lift up and wiggle it away from the "elbow tube" that goes into the throttle body (Or in non techie terms, that bit under the 5.0). you can then flip it over flick the filter off, and if you wish dremel and sand the plastic pegs off... I suppose leaving it in there means if you wanted to, you could refit the filter (why?) at some point with a dab plastic glue.

I'm going to leave my plastic pegs in place (when I get the car next year) so the carbon filter can be reattached. Any warranty work that's needed the car goes in stock.
May as well. 50/50. You might be able to get away with it as the EB airbox doesn't hae the filter so it could be a case of "yeah but it never had it" however, you'd need to really neaten up the dremeled bits to make it less obvious, as it's perfectly smooth in the eb.

I guess the question is; does removing it and grinding down the pegs result in an emissions law violation?
Edit...just realized this is the UK section, sorry.

Is the UK as bad as California for emissions stuff?
No. That particular gizmo seems to be to stop residual hydrocarbons in the inlet escaping to atmosphere. Other than vapour recovery at filling stations we don't have controls as strict as California. Exhaust emissions are checked at annual MOT tests once the vehicle is three years old.
