$14.73 to be exact. That's why they keep their houses so damn cold in Europe. Most who hold them up as a model have never really spent any time there, being a tourist doesn't really count. Europe ain't all that.

We are years away from a 100% EV mandate, the infrastructure alone will take at best 10+ years to put into place.

The logical and realistic answer is a mixed approach of EV, hybrids, and ICE engines.

The biggest stumbling block in my state is how they are going to get the tax money out of the populace when people no longer use gasoline. They said they will figure that out first and then implement. It will probably be a drive by mile automatically billed. The tech exists.

That old chestnut gets rolled out all the time, usually by 'hopecasters'. Norway are managing it OK so it is possible to make it work if you plan ahead. The same was said about ICE cars in the 1800's - they will never replace the horse !

Start being concerned when the F-150 stops having the V8 as an option.
Until then, it's a safe bet it'll continue to be in a Mustang, which I don't see ending for a good long while.

Regardless of the bumbles they make, they know the Mustang car 'formula' of RWD/V8.
(selling out the nameplate for an EV SU-whatever because they didn't think the Oval could sell it on its own. But that's besides the point).

He's not wrong though. They aren't doing them as a favor.
If people didn't buy them, they wouldn't make them.

Extended range battery is 88 kwh.

In Ontario Canada where I live off peak rate is 8.5 cents Canadian per kwh.


88kwh x 8.5c/kwh = $7.48 CDN to fully charge from empty or $6.14 USD.

Much much cheaper than filling up with gasoline.

I could charge a mach-e from empty to full 9-10x for the price of one full tank of gas in my mustang.

Yes your maths is wrong. $1.47 per kWh then (2018) but much cheaper now

Same in the UK. Electricity is about a quarter of the price of an ICE car for the same journey - has been for a long time. Our off peak is about 9p / kWh and even at peak rate it is 18p/kWh. Our PHEV has a 14kWh battery and will do 35 to 40 miles, so £1.26, petrol would be around £5.50 for the same distance.

It’s 14.9 cents per KWH here. It’s cheaper to drive my Corolla 60 miles/day than it is to charge a Tesla Model 3. That’s summer use. In the hills and in winter, it would cost close to 25% less to drive the Corolla.

Same in the UK where tax on petrol will become a per mile tax of some sort - which is what fuel tax is effectively anyway.
