I just ordered a pair of Ford Racing half shafts and it had been brought to my attention that the rubber boot will rub on the shock dust cover? I‘ve heard about a smaller boot that GForce will send out to customers for free since they’re the manufacturer of the half shafts. Seems like nothing is ever easy. These are big ticket items IMO and should not be a problem for customers to contend with. Has anyone figured out a solid fix for this? I‘ve read the threads on here from others and it appeared to be existent as early as 2016 and as late as 2019.

Okay, I received my Ford Racing half shafts today and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they already have the low profile boots on CV them? Thanks

I also meant to mention that I weighed the Ford Racing half shafts and they were 29.8 lbs each. I’ll have to weigh the factory shafts once I do the swap to see what the difference is.

Just cut the shock dust covers with scissors. 2in off the bottom will get it.

Gotcha! I definitely only want to do this once and know that I’ve got the necessary clearance needed.

I'll be joining the boosted crowd shortly and new axles will be needed soon. Does anyone know if these axles now are sold/shipped with the smaller boots, or is this vendor/available stock dependent?

Also cutting the dust boots wasn’t a fix for my car with the ford performance shocks. They rub the actual shock body because it’s larger dia then stock.

Just got off the phone with them. They do not like using the smaller boots because they are more prone to tearing and leaking. Said less material so it’s not as good.

Were you able to come up with a fix for the boots Without a fix, is t it just a matter of time before they let go? I guess I’ll find out what’s happening in that area once I install mine.
