Ford Q4 2020 Sales Released, Mustang Continues Streak as America's Best Selling Sports Car

The competition has a small but loud and rabid following, and combined make it seem like the car is much better at just about every aspect.

I mean all I hear is how impressive the LS/LT engine is, and how impressive the Alpha chassis is, yet for some reason the Camaro just ain't selling the same as the Mustang on an inferior chassis.

It's because GM/Chevy does not advertise/market the Camaro.

Maybe the Mustang is the pony car sales leader because more people have found the Mustang to be a real well built car that looks good and performs quite well for them. I have never sold any of my Mustangs because I enjoy driving all of them.

Mustangs sell better than Camaros because they're easier to live with, and use as a daily driver.

Easier to get in & out of, easier to see out of, more interior space.

The data base i used did not show annual sales. I assume Mustang has that lead from the OP. One has to recognize that the Challenger remains popular. Mustang hanging in. Camaro hanging on.

As a dedicated Mustang guy it is not fair to talk about relative merits of the three
cars. Drive what you like, like what you drive. I do that every week in a Mustang!

Comes down to design. F&F is poor as you note, but the other guys haven't been able to design a car people like. The only thing close (now) is the mid-engine vette.

I just don't understand your post. 2007 mustang production earned the highest JD Power quality rating ever. I still have one. Other than the Takata airbag recall my experience is zero defects and all satisfaction. The 2017 V6 is approaching 36K with zero defects and all satisfaction. Some Porsche, Corvette, BMW, and Camaro owners have been financially ruined by their choice of car. Others may disagree, but I cannot find a better buy than mustang and plenty of other drivers also.

The real question is, do people need to be told the Mustang exists? I think Chevy needs to market the Camaro because it always seems like it's on deaths door. It went away once, and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw that happen again. The Mustang is such a part of Americana, you don't need to be into cars to be aware of it. It's like Harley's. I'm not a motorcycle guy, but that's the first word that comes to mind when I think about them.

The reason Challenger sells so well its advertised a lot on TV. If Ford would advertise have as much as FCA does Mustang sales would be a lot higher.

It's interesting that Dodge shifts so many Challengers.

But also not, as they're large, extremely easy to live with cars. That, and boy-oh-boy but do they have a lot of different models. I just counted, and they offer 14 different models!!!

In my town Camaros and Challengers are ignored but drive around in a ruby red stylish Mustang and everybody looks. 4 1/2 years later I still have people asking me if that's a new Mustang, lol.
