Just looking at the profiles on the left, there aren't many Mustangs posting in this thread that have a transmission that can be changed by a tune...:lol:

Plus (pun intended), who buys a GT and runs 87 Octane?:crazy:
Most people that daily drive do. If there is no timer involved, what's the point?

Clean burn, and giving your knock sensors a rest. I've seen a slight mileage bump and a smoother idle with 91/93 over the times I was forced to get 87.
93 won't burn any cleaner than 87. Ford recommends 87, so that's what I run.

As for mileage, I've noticed no appreciable difference. Considering 93 is .50 more per gallon, I'll stick with 87 unless I decide to make it to the drag strip.

cleaner wouldnt be from the octane itself but 93 would have the additives to help keep the engine clean.

Okay, one very serious question: does this tune really give you an extra 40 ft lb at 1,500 rpm, which is the most important claim and the best reason I'd have for buying it?

I'm in 6th gear between 1,000 and 1,500 rpm a lot while commuting — unfortunately you didn't start your pull until 2,000 rpm.
:confused::shrug:
No, lol. Also, no one wants to start their pull at 1,000. Not great to lug the motor.

Wife's actually seems to get better mileage on 87 vs 93 from the sand station. She's at 20 vs 18.5. Mine on E-85 gets 13.5 lol.

93 octane contains no more or less cleaning detergents than 87 octane. You're car won't live any longer running 93 octane than 87.

By cleaner burning I mean the flame front is more controlled during the burn. Less knocking.
Less chance of knocking, yes. Either way, you're only losing a slight amount of horsepower by running 87.

I'm not knocking (pun intended) anyone for running 93. Those of use that choose 87 enjoy the money saved, rather than the tiny horsepower lost. :thumbsup:

I'm already paying about $.70/gal extra to run no-ethanol fuel ($10/tank)... the bump to 91 Octane ethanol free from 87 Octane ethanol free isn't bad... $4/tank
Why are you running non ethanol fuel? You will only yield an ~ 3% increase in fuel economy and are paying ~35% more for the non ethanol fuel. Just curious.

maintenance costs down the road. Fewer mineral deposits. Longer seal life. Less chance for fuel related issues.

I'm not sure who thought putting a hydrophilic solution in gasoline was a good idea, but I'll avoid it.
