Same issue here with the FP struts bottom mounts “twisting “ a little. But, they seem solid, nevertheless.

The mounting cap screw also started to rust, so I replaced them with stainless steel.
Functionally, the struts work fine, but if I was to replace I’d go in a different direction.

I went with Redline for one reason alone…they open the hood very tall ..taller then the hood prop..and that was the selling point for me.

I've had the Ford Performance for almost a year. No problems to date. Weird thing was I couldn't get the Redlines to fit into the square opening in my 2020. I would of had to file the opening to get those red blocks to go in. Ford quality tolerances?

My FP have worked great. Wish I would have gotten them sooner. One twisted one time, so I took it apart and re-aligned, good to go ever since. I kind of wondered if that bottom mount wouldn't be an issue.

So I installed the Ford Performance ones today but that lower bracket with the bendable weak sauce bottom nut and copper washer seem weak sauce maybe it will hold up but I looked around and some are complaining too … so steeda and redlines lower bolt on seems much more beefy .. comments and opinions from everyone please! Which do you like best ? Problems? Etc etc!! Thanks everyone !

A problem some folks have with the FP struts is the rubbing of paint underneath the hood or pinching of the windshield fluid hose. It could take several months before you notice it. You'll find some reviews on CJ or AM where folks mentioned it. I had both problems. They were easily fixed, but I switched to the Redlines and never looked back.

When I purchased my car in Dec 2017, Redline didn't have a compatible strut yet, so those of us who had 2018s didn't have that option for a long time. I think it may have taken Redline a year or so.

5 1/2 years with my Steeda struts and no problems. Still working good as new.

On a separate note, be VERY cautious when tightening the hood bolts. It’s really easy to snap the studs. I just barely snugged them up and haven’t had any issues. There are several threads on here about snapped hood studs trying to install hood struts.

If you already have the FP struts, check out this post from txgt:

The main complaints I see regarding FP struts are with the lower brackets. I think all struts will pinch your washer hose if it is not relocated properly. I followed txgt's suggestion and am very pleased with the results. The Redline lower brackets are much higher quality and don't dig at the paint.

I had Steeda on my 2018 for 3 years with no problems and installation was easy. I have Steeda struts for my '22 but haven't gotten around to installing them.

So the redline lower bracket is interchangeable with the ford set up?

Yes. The lower Redline bracket has a ball that is the same size as the FP. An FP strut pops right on. The whole changeover took me 5-10 minutes.

I’ve used almost every brand. The two best IMO are Steeda and Roush. The Steeda seem to also fix the hood shake if you have it, which I have had on every Mustang since 2005, with my 2005. I’ve owned 20+ now and I stick with Steeda for the hood shake reason alone.
