We've got it in our '12 Flex. My wife tried fiddling with it and it ended up screwing up her Sync settings. Who know for sure???

I've also got it on my base EB. Never bothered with it.
It's evil, pure evil

it's looking like the solution to the problem is custom tune such as BAMA / SCT, with speed & rev limiter. It's a gamble though as a tune might adversely affect a powertrain warranty.

It would be much better if this functionality was built into Ford MyKey.

It should be so easy to do in a tune that it could be left user-definable just like for tire sizes/revs per mile and axle gears. And if you could get a "custom tune" that only provided for this additional user control while remaining otherwise stock there shouldn't be any warranty issues. I can picture a market for exactly this kind of tune (that you could perhaps upgrade separately at a later date for more power and torque when your warranty concerns have subsided). Might need to have separate EO#'s though.

Some years ago I put a 4700 rpm rev limit on a car (it had laptop-programmable aftermarket EFI) just before my son was going to borrow it for the day, and resetting the rev limit was such an easy thing to do it was ridiculous. Running into fuel cut just once (and a second or two to realize what had been done to make that happen) is all it takes to bring a semblance of sanity back into the driving.
