Looks like TFL and 5 star finally strapped one to the dyno. 360 rwhp and 409 ftlb on the best pull.

For reference, the gen3 5.0 generally makes about 420/390 and the LS7 7.0 about 460/430.

Good for the truck motor doing truck motor things.

It’ll make big NA power with bolt ons, cam and tune. Won’t be long before someone develops heads for it and it’ll be a great platform.

Reset the tune on the 5.0 and ls7 to where they are running 87 octane.
Bolt those engines to the same heavy duty drivetrain including the heavy wheels.
Test them......compare the graphs.
That F-250 has a much heavier drivetrain than a F-150.......
Please don't compare to a sports car.......

In that video, they talk about how wavey the graph is.....
Then it's explain that Ford put TQ limits that cuts power......
There is huge power to be found with the 7.3 with just a tune.

P.S. I already know what the heads flow stock.

The 7.3 engine is so new. I can hardly wait for two more years to see what the 7.3 engine will be like. Be fun to see a race version in a Fox Mustang.

Exactly.

We only see the motor in truck guise. Nothing impressive to be expected but LOTS of potential in that platform.

I've mentioned it before, destroke the 7.3 down to a 427,8, or 9 ci add more cam, up the compression, make an rpm friendly intake, and port the heads and I can forsee this engine making around 600 hp N/A.

....or you can get a 14 year old LS7 and do a cam swap and make 600.

I don’t think this is progress.

Would a 7.3 even clear the s550 towers?

I'd love to see what a solid tune would do to one.
Probably. The OHC heads are massive. This could probably fit.

From what I understand those LS7s are ticking time bombs. Not enough guide for the exhaust valves, or something? You're probably going to want to fix that issue. And if you are adding a cam with greater lift than stock, beware that not all the fixes will take care of the issues with valves dropping and destroying the engine.
