I've read a thread or two about folks immediately removing the spring for better feel, control and engagement. How has that been working out?

I decided to keep mine in to begin with, and after several months and all the miles, I'm definitely getting tired of the lag in the middle of the range that kills the consistent tension and feel I'd like to have in a clutch. I end up inadvertently "dumping" the clutch at least 1/2 the time.

So, any regrets for those that removed the spring? Any operating issues?

I think I'm ready to take it out.

I pulled mine out of my 15 GT/PP, sooo much better feel. Couldn't stand that role over feel in the middle of the clutch. Oh pulled it with maybe 100 miles and I'm at 8,000 now

I replaced it with the Steeda 35lb Spring. It is a little light at the top of travel but the feel at the grab point is more linear. Overall a moderate improvement.
No regrets.

Feel for the clutch bite point is one of the biggest weaknesses on this car. This has been echoed by all three people who have driven my car. A spring change or removal of it alone is not going to change that IMO.

Note, several threads said completely removing the spring creates about an 1/8" of slop at the top.

I've got the Steeda spring also. Haven't looked back. Makes the clutch feel like you'd expect it to feel.

I've installed the Steeda spring as well, I wish it was heavier - but much better than stock.

Was at a cars and coffee a couple weeks ago where a few of us GT350s where there. One of the board members had the Steeda spring. It was nice to jump in mine then his and try them out side by side.

Needless to say I have the spring coming in the week.

Would my 08 Bullitt have one? I know my clutch is WAY heavier than the 15+ cars, but it could still have one, right?

The quick consensus appears to be to replace the stock spring with the Steeda, rather than go with no spring or stay stock. Seems like a decent option at this point.

I believe the helper springs were first introduced with the 2011 Mustang pedal assemblies. Also, there are posts here where some folks don't like the pedal being left with a little play, hence the desire to go with the Steeda part.

Never noticed the feel in my previous '10 GT, which has the same pedal arrangement as your '08. I did notice it in my '15 GT, however, the spring seems to have less tension because it's broken in, and I've adjusted to it.

I like the engagement much better now, don't feel any slop without the spring. You can always put it back on if you don't like it, or buy the Steeda spring.

Best thing I have done. Only issue was waiting a week thinking I would get use to it.
Just do it and dont look back
