You may end up with a bit of oil consumption down the line, other than that it’ll be fine
I have seen the opposite.

Those that baby their engines from new, end up with oil-burners.

I “skipped” break in on my 6th Gen SS and it would burn a quart or so every 4K. I followed the engineers guidance on my Mach1, doesn’t burn a drop. So maybe it’s random idk.

If you read it on the internet it must be true :)

Ford and other manufacturers simply are not going to recommend something because of some old myth. It is in their best interest to put together recommendations based on sound engineering. If the engineers who designed the engine recommend a break-in, then I would tend to think they have good reason to do so.

But no matter what you choose believe, the OP has not damaged his engine with a single blip at 600 miles.

For a case example, I took my 2021 Mach 1 to the track the day after I bought it with 42 miles on the odometer. Since that time its seen the track atleast once a month and has accumulated +/- 3000 road course miles. So far the car has run beautifully and the catch can gathers about 2 or less tablespoons of oil every oil change (about every 4 months for me).

When I did the Mach 1 track attack, the school cars only had 120 miles on them and have been getting beat on ever since.

As I was told a while back, break it in how you intend to use the car 😁

OK @Zent, this is your first post since June 3rd. No indication that you finally got your car and no pics. Then this post. Call me skeptical but I want to see actual pics of your new car or it didn’t happen.

I probably went WOT at least 20 times with higher-rev coasting before I hit 500 miles on my last 3 coyotes. All were strong runners with no oil consumption or weird noises. Gotta seat your rings somehow right?

I watched my tachometer just rev all the way up and then i realized "oh crap i only got 650 miles!! :(" hoping nothing got damaged!
for fks sake, My EB was visiting red-line multiple times before 200 miles on the ODO. Your engine is for all intents and purposes broken in by 100 miles if you do it right.

On the way home from Granger I "tested" the on ramp capabilities with about 150 miles on the clock. I figured I need to let this motor know what its in for. So far, all it has done is laugh at me and ask for another. The tires are not as happy with me though.

Dude, I matted my throttle and ran to the redline on the test drive with less than 100 on the clock. Have done it several times since and I just turned 1000 miles. It will see it a lot over it's life, might as well letter rip.

You'll have to take it to the dealership and demand they do a complete disassembly, inspection, and re-assembly.

Demand it. It's the only way to be sure.

Pretty sure in the manual it states no more than 38MPH for the first 2,000 miles.
The first 2,000 miles, I think you meant the first 20,000 Miles!

I had a hard time believing that the OP was serious but now some of these responses are even harder to believe. A guy hits the throttle a little at 650 miles and it’s gonna cause oil consumption later? Come on, really?

Everybody does it differently. I’ll usually give it maybe 200 or so miles then run it up to 6000 or so in the bottom three gears maybe once every 100 or so miles. At about 400 miles I’ll increase that to around 7000 in the bottom three gears once every hundred miles or so up to 1000 miles. After that I don’t think about it.

None of the stuff described in this thread so far is likely to hurt a modern engine. It’s OK to enjoy it a little, just don’t abuse it or overheat it.
