Hi peeps, as per title, car booked in for the first service. I'm supplying the oil and filter but I've a few Q's as to what else I should get done.

I've got the Ford service schedule and essentially it's just an oil and filter change with all the 'check this and that' bollocks

I'd like the diff and gearbox oil changed out as well, so........

1. Worth doing?

2. Recommendations of type?

3. Preferably UK supplier.

Is there any other stuff I should be getting done?

I changed the box and diff oil with Gibbo's recommended BG stuff from the States. I can't say it was as night and day as others have reported but then I'm running a Barton shortshifter which is a lot more solid than stock.

Not sure if BG is freely available over here but I think UK stockists like to go with Royal Purple which gets good reviews from the US guys.

Had my 10k service done by Ford dealer (who I've been dealing with for over 20 years + , first time was when I my bought new XR2, all those years ago)

Only reason I went with Ford was for warranty purposes and its a 1 1/2 hour round trip, and not the 7 hours round trip to Mike's.

They wouldn't use my oil and filter, so went along with them and they supplied the ford product, not a problem for me, I paid ÂŁ210.00 inc vat for the full service and courtesy car etc, so wasn't to bothered.

Had my trannie oil changed by Mike at Modurstang on my last visit he swears by Royal Purple oil so that's what I went with, an improvement on what it came out of the factory with, but not a great deal of difference.

If you are going to Ford for the service, make sure they add on another Ford Road Side Assistance for the year for free

My dealer has offered a free 1500mile service, so won't say no to that. Already at 1000 miles, so guess my first service isn't too far away!

Good deal. Are you not Edinburgh? They didn't offer me one :)
Will probably use Perth anyway however.
