I have considered them but don't know if I really like the matching Nitto G2 for the front.
They matchish lol. But the r2 are great in the rear.

The reviews are mixed. Seems like they're great for traction but like my Toyos become useless quickly.

I ran the 500's on a previous car. They proved very much worth their money....in a good way. I'm having 285/35-19's installed tomorrow at Firestone. They are running a special and got them out the door for $820.

That is the part that concerned me, as my car is driven often.

I'm leaning towards either the Conti or the MPS4S for my tire change.
I am sure both those tires would be a great tire. I went with firestone because I had quite a few people who run them say they are a great tire, and their cheaper. I plan on wearing my back tires out by the end of each year. Have fun.

Based upon the tirerack reviews for the Indy's and Conti's (tires I have) they both have the same performance dry rating of 93. These ratings are based upon 100's of reviews and many of them are from guys in the 400-600 rwhp category. Conti's have a little better wet and comfort rating and the Firehawks have better treadwear ratings. I like the look of the indy's better also. The only areas that might set the Conti apart is in speed rating and width. They measure slighty wider treadwidth (.2") and the conti's have a 186 speed rating vs 168 for the indy's. We will never see those speeds but that speaks to how stable the car is at higher speeds which I like to hit close to the limiter on a regular basis. Of course the big factor is price. Indy's are $60 cheaper for 285's and they both come in 285/20" which for me is huge since you can throw them on a 9.5" rim and give you exactly a half inch more in treadwidth over the 275's on a 20" rim which i have. That's a huge selling point for me in the future.

In the end for the money I might go with the Indy's down the road but it's a toss up. You made an excellent choice. I'll be looking at them when my continental extremecontact sports are done.

I had planned to go with the Firestone Indy 500 on my new wheels, but it looks like they, and many other tires have had a substantial price increase lately. I also took a look at the specs again and noticed that this is not the lightest tire so I decided to reevaluate the options.
It seems that the General Gmax-RS is getting reviews fairly equal to the Indy 500, the price is close and it weighs 27 lbs. I'm replacing a 26 lb 19x8.5 with a 24 lb 19x10, it would be nice if I could keep the increase in tire weight to a minimum.
Has anyone here had any experience with the Gmax-RS, or better still, firsthand experience with both the Gmax and the Indy 500? The Firestone dealer up the street has the Indy 500 on sale at $190/ea, the place across the street from them has the Gmax for $208 and a $70 rebate on a set of 4. I just need to decide who gets my business.

Are there better tires than the Firehawks? Definitely. For the cost and length of time you get to use them, they're a great budget tire especially if you're learning.

Firehawks are trash tires especially in the rain. Actually totaled my S197 because of them in a light downpour.
Good for you ! We went a buck twenty in a heavy rain. No problems. The rooster tails were a thing of beauty, same with the mini vortexes coming off the ends of the factory spoiler.

As I posted earlier I had the 500's installed last Saturday. The day after I was on the freeway in a down pour with plenty of standing water in the lanes that any tire would have struggled the bit that did happen. Guess what? I didn't dead. Just have to drive smarter than the weather.
