Exterior door handles won't go back in after taking them out

I took off my door handles to wrap and now I can't get it back on no matter what I try. It doesn't pop back in like in every video on YouTube.

Has anyone ever had this issue? I've literally been sitting here for like 3 hours trying to figure out this door handle

Took me forever!!! Only thing I can suggest is keep trying. I can’t explain how I was able to get it but it finally went all the way in.. YouTube didn’t help me either. Sorry this isn’t much help but your not alone on trying to reinstall those darn things.. they come out so easy!!
