My 20 GT350 is in for oil change and state inspection at the dealership. I have 3000 miles on it never tracked or burned the tires. Service advisor stated the rears passed inspection but said will have to be replaced soon. I just thought we could go at least 5k before we need to consider replacing them. Thoughts????

Um, no. 10k is about what you can expect on the street unless you are driving hard or your alignment is out.

Are you at or past the wear bars?

General rule of thumb for non-R spec cup 2’s is 7,000-10,000 if no track use and no camber. I’ve heard of a few getting as many as 12,000 miles. Keep in mind though every mile after they’re new the wet performance starts dropping. If you think you’ll ever get caught in the rain try not to run them down to the cords, otherwise it’s like driving on ice. If you’ll strictly be driving in the dry, you can absolutely run them until they start chunking or showing good cord.

What about a 350R cup 2 tire? I'm about 5200 miles on mine.

I was told something similar with only 1K miles. Most service techs have no idea how these tires should look.
As for life, I just replaced my SC2's at 11,700 miles. All street driving with some spirited driving along the way. The outside tread had disappeared, and the others were getting low, but the inside tread was just above the wear bars. That's how these tires wear, from the outside inward. And the rear wear out faster than the fronts And that's normal. I could've got a few hundred more miles out of them, but am doing a long trip in one week, and didnt want to be on worn tires. And I went with the PSS for the longer tread life
Btw, these were the SC2 tires at about 10.5K miles.

When the outside thin line disappears, it's usually around 50% tread left before you get to chords. This depends on use, but that's how it works for me and I've gone through 10+ sets of tires tracking. Usually the line disappears after 2-3 track days, then get another 3 or so before the fronts chord. I've never chorded the rears out, just heat cycled them to death.

Send a pic, but in my experience they wear 33% faster on track, and I’d expect the same on street (so maybe 6k-8k normal and 10k as a really high end. So many variables.)

Holy cow that’s some seriously good longevity. The MOST I ever got out of fronts was 4 days, but I average 3. My home track is notoriously hard on tires and brakes though…. Ive probably been through about 9 sets of standard cup 2’s, 3 sets of R cup 2’s, and a set of Supersports. My favorite combination BY FAR was the R fronts (305/30/19) mixed with the non-R rears (305/35/19). Perfect balance….

Any experience and feedback on 295/35's 104Y for track use?

I've chorded them as early as 4 days a few times, but usually make it to 5 days with ford spec cup 2's. Depends on the track and how much track time I get. On a clockwise track the driver front is obviously punished the most, so if you rotate front L/R after 2 days it helps get another day out of them.

Also, and more importantly, I generally run the Porsche spec 102y Cup 2's on the front, as those come with significantly more tread and a firmer sidewall that lets them last much longer. They are $60 or so more each, but I can get 7 track days out of them with a rotation before chording (and at that point heat cycles is the issue anyway, plus this saves $ on tire changes which I loath on carbon wheels at a Ford dealership). The Shelby spec Cup 2's I rarely get more than 5 days out of total unless some are in the rain, but regardless, there is a lot of meat left after that outside line disappears was my point above.

The FP cups 2’s (stock for 2019-2020) are an amazing tire. The 305/30/19 for fronts are just slightly stickier and helped me pickup an extra .65 sec on my lap time. The 295/35’s are slightly less sticky when pushing 10/10’ths but definitely last longer.
