.
If I have learned anything, it’ is that quality takes time.
.
CAD video of the all new 2020 GT500 carbon fiber PYTHON hood vent. 100% carbon fiber production. Lightweight. Aggressive angular vent shape. More aggressive vent angle. Longer and higher vent length.
.
Produced in the US with had laid carbon fiber. Forged and traditional 2x2 carbon fiber weave options in both gloss and matte finishes. CNC post milling for precision. Built from the OEM GT500 vent scan for factory like fitment.
.
Initial production units being built now. Pricing will be announced shortly with vents going on sale January 2021.

I hope this finds you well, and your 2021 is off to a great start. I wanted to thank you for your interest in the GT500 PYTHON hood vent, and share with you the latest updates.
.
After test fitting of our 3D printed part, and several CAD tweaks we are in Phase 2: Production of the hood vent. The mold is being built now, and the first production piece is slated to be completed on January 21st. Vent #001 will be built in a matte forged carbon, and test fitted on my car for final approval.
.
The benefit of starting from a 3D scan, manipulating it in CAD, and test fitting a 3D printed piece is we can work out 95% of the kinks before the fiberglass mold is built. The actual production piece should be bang on, but any adjustment needed can be done through the CNC post machining process. This means a couple hours of potential tweaks handled in CAD and applied to the CNC process, as opposed to having to build and entirely new mold. In the end the PYTHON you receive will not need any tweaks or test fitting. I will have vetted the component as ready to install.
.
The most asked question has been costs, and you will find that next. The goal here was always to build the best vent, and not the cheapest. Several additional hood vent features will be revealed as the build process moves forward, but I think you will all be pleased. The below pricing is what is projected to cover all of the materials cost, shipping, boxes, taxes, card processing fees, etc. This is an all in cost to your door in the contiguous 48 states, with extra shipping added for anywhere else.
.
Projected Retail Costs
  • Gloss Twill Carbon (standard 2x2 weave): $1298.00
  • Matte Twill Carbon (standard 2x2 weave): $1058.00
  • Gloss Forged Carbon: $1398.00
  • Matte Forged Carbon: $1098.00
.
This gets us into Phase 3: Retail Production and shipping. I will open up an initial period of time to allow anyone interested to place a 50% deposit for their order. Once that window is closed production will begin. You can expect a 3-day build time per vent. These will be built in the order of deposits received, and I will cap each batch in groups of 10. Meaning the first 10 vents ordered will be hand built and shipped within 30 days, and should break up the wait time.
.
Hood vents will have all OEM provisions for the rain tray, but hardware/mounting brackets will not be included. You can definitely swap over the hardware from your OEM unit, or use another solution if you choose to retain that functionality.
.
Now that pricing has been released we can reevaluate interest and see who is ready to be first up. There is a chance pricing could increase after this initial run, but it will allow me to evaluate the time/costs associated. All of your patience and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated. I am taking great care to ensure you only receive a completely vetted piece.
.
Thank You,

I’m interested in a gloss forged carbon. Will the coating on these already be UV protectant? I plan to get it PPFd anyways but it would be nice to know.

I haven’t dealt with the center vent at all but would like to retain the rain tray, is it as simple as just moving over the OEM hardware or will something else need to be involved?

Terrance, I’m in buddy. I would just like a little more info about the difference between the two gloss options so I know which one I will want.

As mentioned above, I am also interested in what UV protection is provided.

Thanks.

I want one too. More info on the two gloss options would be much appreciated. Any chance you made an option for a quick release/install of the rain tray?

Thanks for those, Gary and now the question for me becomes, what will the forged gloss version look like...A, B, or C?

Of the two, I much prefer the twill as it matches the wheels and wing so T, whatever option looks more like the twill example above is what I'm after.
