European maps on US SYNC module

Has there ever been a way to get European maps working on American SYNC Systems?
I can use CarPlay so I'm not really complaining, but I'd still love to have the native navigation app.

As he uses Carplay he most probably uses a SYNC3 unit, and with the SYNC3 units there is no SD card slot anymore.

That said, there are companies in Germany that flash european maps onto a US SYNC3 module. Mind you that you cannot install the whole set of EU maps as the memory of the SYNC3 unit sold in the US is very often only half of the memory of the EU SYNC3 modules, but it's doable.

I actually tried the steps by s550guru (he's German iirc), but it didn't work. I'll give it another go though, I'll keep this thread updated.

You need to reformat/reinstall everything including the maps afaik. As i had a EU spec SYNC system by start i never did a conversion US --> EU myself, but read that it might be possible with the help of the reformat tool that is floating around. But not sure about that. I still know that a conversion is crazy expensive though when done by a company in Germany.
