Does anyone know, if we will get in Europe the 3.73 Torsen differential or the 3.55 Clutch differential?

According to the US order guide, Ford does not offer the 3.55 Clutch for the Mach 1. And as the Mach 1 is advertised as the most track-capable 5.0 ever, we may be lucky and get the 3.73 Torsen.

Furthermore the Mach 1 is always equipped with a rear differential cooler, which is more of an advantage for a Torsen differential, because Torsen differentials generate more heat than Clutch differentials.

Getting the 3.73 in the manual would be really big thing here in Europe. The 3.55 rear axle ratio paired with the dumb gear ratios in the manual really slow down the car a whole category. European MTs are having a hard time going sub 5s.

I know this comparison chart. The PP1, which is the base for the EU GT, is also always equipped with a Torsen diff in the US. But in the EU it is equipped with a Clutch diff. Therefore this must not be necessarily true for Europe.

@Ace
At least the gear ratios will already be slightly better thanks to the Tremec TR-3160. Together with the 3.73 Torsen diff, this would be a dream...

So if someone has information about the diff type in the EU Mach 1, I'm still very happy.

All Mustangs up to this point sold in the EU, UK and Australia are 3.55 clutch Track-Loc units.

Also, clutch based units produce far more heat. A Torsen doesn't generate anywhere near the same amount but naturally if you are tracking the car you should have coolers on the differential and transmission.

The Mach 1 may be the first export Mustang to come with a Torsen but specs have not been confirmed.

Correct me if I am wrong here but isn’t Torsen identified in the Australian ebrochure ?

You are perfectly right. Googled it and attached it. On page 12 the Torsen diff is mentioned.

And if Australia also only got the Clutch diff so far, but now will get the Torsen diff, this could really indicate, that we also get the Torsen diff in the EU.

I may have to chime in here as I have a small amount of information on the Torsen Diff
Conflicting information:

Ford NZ says no Torsen Diff

Salesman at Ford Hamilton sent information from Ford NZ saying yes to Torsen Diff and of course the Australian RHD Brochure saying yes as well.

Not sure which to believe.

Maybe I am confusing myself here and others would be better informed than myself (this will be my first mustang), but I was a bit surprised to see Torsen listed in the brochure with a 3.55 rather than 3.73. Will chase up my dealer and see if I can gain any clarity. Maybe it’s just a typo ?

I was actually going to mention the Australian brochure

In America, the auto comes with a 3:55 Torsen where the Manual comes with a 3:73 torsen, so that could explain the confusion on the ratios. But either way, I think you guys will get the torsen. I find it hard to believe that they’d include the Tremec but not the torsen diff

How's the 3160 ratio of
3.25 2.23 1.61 1.24 1.00 0.63 2.95

Better than the MT82 ratio of
3.66 2.43 1.69 1.32 1.00 0.65 3.32

Oh ya.. forgot.. 18+ MT82 ratios SUCK. Gotta love how ford neutered the MT82

That's true. But as you mentioned the 18+ MT82 ratios are crap.
3.24 2.10 1.42 1 0.81 0.62

So, IF Ford doesn't "tune" the Tremec, especially the gears 3, 4 and 5 are better than the MT82.
