Just curious how many people took the engine cover off. Not the coil covers, just the engine cover. I painted mine, but it didn't turn out great, and after washing tonight I took it off and took a step back and couldn't decide what I liked better, on or off. Does the cover actually provide anything, such as heat retainment or noise isolation?

It's only aesthetics. I prefer it on, I don't think it's a particularly attractive motor with all the fuel lines, hoses, wires everywhere. I think the cover cleans up the engine bay considerably.

My vote would be for off if it serves no functional purpose. I've never liked all the cosmetic plastic cladding inside modern cars.

I care about infotainment
I don't think it's an offensive amount of plastic, especially compared to a lot of modern cars out there, so I'll leave it on. I like the 5.0 badging there as well.

Wonder how much heat really gets trapped under it.

Honestly I think a lot. My temps both cylinder heads and iats were a degree or two lower during my trip today. Granted my cover had several layers of paint on it so that holds in heat too.

I'm undecided if I like the refined or raw look better. Without the sound tube it's not nearly as bad in there.

I'll take mine off today and check out the temps.

The Ecoboost cover has foam padding on the inside to deaden the sound. It looks plain ugly without the cover.

Honestly a degree or 2 isn't much. I think it looks better with it on there and that couple degree difference could be due to a lot of other factors as well such as outside temp.
