Engine block corrosion

Anyone know if the aluminum engine block has some sort of corrosion protection from the factory? I don't believe so because mine is developing areas of white aluminum oxide.

Anyone use any sort of protectant or polish for the front part of the engine block (the part seen when the hood is up)?

I think that you are right TDC...mine was delivered in winter and had a little salt wash on the rear suspension components...I cleaned the frost with household CLR (calcium,lime,rust) diluted and then wiped the surfaces with a canned version of a clear, oil-like rust inhitibitor we have up here called "Krown" looks factory again.
