A bit of a last minute thing, but I'm taking the car on a little run out to north/mid Wales on Saturday.

The initial plan was a run up from Wolverhampton to Llangollen via M54/A5, then on to Bala via the A494, then back to the A5 at Knockin via the B4391/B4396 and then home.

This then developed into a meet up with Gibbo at the McDonalds on the A5/A483 junction (near Chirk) so I could get a first hand view of his engine-porn. Coffee and breakfast also on the agenda before heading out into Welsh Wales. Probably another pit-stop in Bala for a cuppa and a play on the swings (my little girl will be with me!), then head back with maybe another cuppa-stop around Knockin.

If anyone fancies tagging along for some or all of the above please feel free. McDonalds for 9.00 - 9.30am. Weather should be good, so hopefully it will be a nice early morning run up there. Need to be back in Wolverhampton by mid-afternoon so early-ish start a necessity - need time to make myself look beautiful for the evenings festivities!

Cheers .....

You got a postcode buddy for the A5/A483 junction near Chirk as never heard of it.

According to Google maps it's; CHIRK RETAIL PARK, WREXHAM, LL14 5AZ but postcodes in semi-rural locations can be a bit inaccurate. Setting the satnav to the junction location is probably best.

With all these people coming I don't think the car park will be big enough :D . If you can't make it Gibbo don't worry, I was going to be heading up there anyway so it's not a problem. Cheers ...

No worries mate, catch up another time - if I do anything to my car it'll be power pack 3 (if we ever get it) so getting a first hand look at your set up would be really cool. Cheers ...

Sorry Enoch, didn't realise you were coming. I'd have given you my mobile if I'd known. I thought it was just going to be me. Would love to have seen your car, especially the wheels ... are the headers on now? Admittedly we did get there a tad late, probably about 9.45, thanks to an enforced stop for a loo break - one of the side effects of having a 7 year old passenger I'm afraid! ... plus I did take a wrong turn which added about 5 mins.
We stopped at McDonald's for a bit of breakfast then briefly at Pontcysyllte, then went on to Horseshoe Pass (never been there before, some nice bikes and cars at the cafe), down to Bala then back. It was a great drive - awesome roads!
Really sorry bud, my fault - I owe you a beer/tea/coffee for that. Would be a great run to do again now I'm a bit more familiar with the roads - probably without Lily next time though! An early Sunday start would probably mean a bit less traffic too.

I must have just missed you. How annoying :frusty:.

Yes, the traffic up to Horseshoe across to Bala and back to Knockin wasn't too bad but the A5 between Telford and Llangollen was a nightmare, especially on the way back.

We'll have another go next year .... get a few others along along too hopefully.

Right .... i'm off out to get drunk and make a fool of myself. Happy new year all ....

Welcome to the A5 in this area:frusty::frusty:

It's got so bad I hardly ever use it now, just use local roads to get around it.....

And it's gonna get worse... the big roundabout by the BP garage (I live 1 mile away) is going to be having works done... starting 23 Jan finishing some time in June:tsk::rant:

God knows what they're going to be doing:gossip: but I bet it ends up worse than it is now:frusty::rant::frusty::paddle:
