There's a very audible constant blow-off (phsssh) sound coming from the driver's side in the engine compartment that only occurs under full throttle. I'm inclined to believe it is a leak because on some occasions the idle rpms stay high around 1400-1500 like a vacuum leak, and there's an even louder suction sound but then return to normal after driving or "boosting" again. I thought it could be my UPR DVCC coming loose somewhere but all the connections appear secure. For that matter, I don't even know where the BOV or anything of the sort is located on the car.

So how should I go about determining the cause? All I know is that it's on the driver's side and nothing else. I know for sure it's nothing intercooler related, all of those connections are tight and secure as well. I can try and replicate the high idle scenario and try to listen for the suction sound, but that's all I've got before I take it to the dealer on Friday, as light and moderate driving is unaffected by this issue.

Many thanks.

What kind of intake are you running?
I'm thinking that the factory BPV is opening up under the pressure of your tune?
The valve is notoriously weak, and maybe you are hearing it blowing open through your intake.many others have had this issue at highway speeds.
Are you noting any boost loss?

Your inexpensive fix might be:

I'm running the stock intake. If the PP boost gauge is accurate, I'm not noticing any boost loss, or much at all. It still hits 20psi under full throttle in 3rd and 4th gears. I'll have another go at identifying the sound after class with a friend.

Remove the airbox lid and see if it gets a lot louder.
This would point to a faulty bypass valve.

Just remove the airbox lid and see if it gets a lot louder at idle or while driving? Should it just be louder in general?

I remember that I drove my stock Focus ST without the airbox cover for a day and noticed that blow off noise was incredibly audible and intake noise was slightly more audible than with the cover on; though, there wasn't anything wrong with my ST.

I had an ST as well. Getting to that bpv certainly was fun.
You are going to hear the noise louder when you remove the lid, but you should be listening for valve flutter or constant venting. Popping the lid will make it more obvious.
While parked, hold it at a high rpm and see if it is venting, it shouldn't. Then go for a quick drive and see if is venting more than just off throttle.

I'm only concentrating on this since aside from a charge pipe loose, this is the only "boost" action on the drivers side.

Next step would be to check the TB connections.
You also might want to do a datalog and send it to LMS if you have a tuner that can do that.

Theoretically that's normal. If that's the sound you were hearing, it can be addressed in several ways:
Leave it alone and live with it.
Install a DV+ adapter
Install an aftermarket BPV such as a turbosmart or Boomba.
If you like the sound, get a BOV.
You can get computer controlled or mechanical control.

Based on your setup, a DV+ would probably be a good option.

It could be worse! Are there any detrimental effects performance-wise until I replace it?
