To be fair, I have coilovers and it may be that I have a larger range of suspension travel than the stock setup allowed for and that caused the shaft to fail. I did not measure the amount of free movement on the stock suspension so I can not know for sure but the shaft that failed seems to have been stretched to far causing the inner joint to hit the retaining ring within the joint while under load, the retaining ring was ripped out of its groove and found in the boot.Ford can't package heavy objects for the life of them. I got a track pack that looked like it went through a war on its way to me. Sent it right back.
This is scary to see. I plan to track my car about 5 times this year if finances work out. Arg.
Guess I'll cross my fingers.
I am hoping this is the fix as I see the other shaft options as overkill for the power level I am at, if these fail then the only other option is a much more expensive aftermarket shaft.
