So, myself and a friend of mine both run a UK mustang owners group called Mustangs Unleashed. We've got rather big, however we're constantly joking about who has the "faster car".

We've got a show at Santapod (2* uphill) 1/4 mile drag strip, and car show alongside of it, which 40 of our members will be attending (of all ranges of vehicle year)

My question to you guys is who do you think will win? (And yes I know there's a million and 1 factors that can apply to this scenario).

A bit about the cars/drivers

Me:
2016 EBM PP - Race Red - MT
19x10 Rotiform R122 SPF alloys (20kg weight saving)
Pedders XA coilovers
MPSS 275/40/19 (Square setup) rubber.
Steeda IRS lockout kit (The inserts not the stop the hop pack)
Tune+ Wastegate Actuator
ETS intercooler
Airaid MIT
K&N Panel filter
Velossatec ram air intake
NGK spark plugs
Cobb 3" downpipe (High flow cat).
MF Comp catback (W/ custom quad tips cut in to fit gt350 valance)
TUNE+ Tuned
3.31 gears
(Made 360 engine bhp and 400 lb ft on a dyno - MAHA2)
(Never drag raced on the strip before)
best 0-60: 4.7 (slight decline), avg 4.9-5.1

Reuben:
2016 V8 PP - Shadow Black - MT
Airraid CAI
Custom catback exhaust
Pedders XA Coilovers
BMR Cb005
MPSS 275's rear
3.55 gears
(Stock V8 made 410/400 engine bhp on same dyno as my EBM)
(never drag raced on the strip before)
best 0-60 - 5.4

We've both got numerous other mods; however none of which I doubt will effect aero or drag (I have a GT spoiler, fog light air fins, GT splitter, Gt350 diffuser etc) so I've omitted these.

Place your bets :)!

Did I miss which transmission each of you have - as in manual vs auto?

Traction is going to be the big issue. Traction being equal the GT will win of course. Are you talking just comparing actual time slips or racing heads up - since those are two totally different scenarios?

Driver experience is a HUGE factor and if either of you has practiced launching your cars then they may have the advantage. Tires are key to putting the power down so whomever hooks first will have another advantage. I think the eco will have the better 60ft but by the end the GT should take the win. Remember that the difference on paper 0-60mph is approx 1 sec.

The EB may pull on the GT from the 60 foot but the coyote has way more steam down the track. EB seem to make the majority of power down low where as a coyote loves to rev and make a lot of midrange and topend power.

Concur with above posts, the small stock turbo will spool up quick to provide globs of torque down low. But it'll run out of breath at the top end whereas 5.0 will still be going strong, and the GT also has lower gearing. However, EBs are almost 200 lbs lighter than GTs and you also have lightweight wheels. A rough rule of thumb states shedding 100 lbs is equivalent to 10 HP or .1 sec improvement. So being around 200 lbs lighter with some of the savings from rotational mass should make up for some HP difference. It should be a close race and I'm looking forward to the results!

By the way, shouldn't the dyno be measuring WHP instead of BHP?

We're British, we do BHP, not WHP. Don't ask; this is just consistent.

BOTH ARE MANUAL TRANSMISSION BTW.

I 0-60 faster than the v8 at 4.9/5.0 consistently whereas he gets 5.4-6's. Both manual trans.

If driver's were equal, the GT would win. Not knowing the drivers of each car, it's too close to call. If he spins and you don't, you could very well win the race. The EB needs a big turbo upgrade to surpass the GT if the drivers were of equal talent.

A Red car is always faster over any other color.... that’s my scientific calculation as to who will win.
