what is the dodge“SS car?” Are you talking about a COPO? They are limited run (69 a year I believe) and cost 150,000$ just to start, and then you have to win the right to purchase one. Ford already makes a factory drag car the Cobra Jet.
They took the blown motor frm the Demon and put it in a chalenger that is streetable, waranteed, can be licensed and driven on the street. Everything they could do to make it run a fast 1/4 mile they looked at and did if it would still be srreetable.

Here is a thought, a Base GT with the aluminator crate engine, a heavy duty A10, and magnaride with a special calibration for drag use and a rear seat delete and no sound deadening or carpet just a rubber mat. Throw in the torsen diff and some lightweight wheels and tires and drag radials for the rear. The could call it the drag pack option, and then you can install the power adder of your choice.
That is a great concept. Dodge offers the 1320 which is 6.4 485 hp. Plus the SUPER STOCK which is a blown 6.2.
Two price points, equals more sales!!

The advantage of my last post is you would get the building blocks you need for a drag car and the aluminator already had billet OPG's and forged internals and it wouldn't cost ford much more to put one in on the assembly line instead of a standard gen 3 coyote. Everything else would be off the shelf parts except the heavy duty A10 and the drag calibration for the magnaride. Ford could even do two versions, the boosted one with lower compression and 3.15 gears, and the N/A version with 12:1 and 3.73's

Great for the 5 people who buy one.

So easy, yet Ford doesn't have the balls. They'd rather let Dodge keep getting legs up on them.

They are competing for the same sales. Challenger has been making real sales progress. They passed Camaro, and Ford obviously doesn't care to maintain their sales lead.

They're looked at as a segment, but I think you'd be surprised how few people cross-shop the two. One is a big, retro-looking cruiser and muscle car, and the other is a refined & modern pony car / sports coupe. Camaro went full on sports car with a back seat and did so in a way that turned off too many buyers.

The mustang isn’t a 1 trick pony like the challenger. This car can be at home on the track or on a drag strip. Challenger can really only drag race and that’s with drag radials otherwise half the people that buy them can’t get the numbers claimed by dodge. I think fords approach is perfect, if you want a drag car keep it off the streets and buy a cobra jet. However they’ll still sell you a 10 second street able gt500 which is also track capable if you want something fast for the drag strip.

Very true, but Dodge is winning many buyers over with those bloated relics because of the special editions. Ford adds 20 HP and calls it special.

Do you really think anyone at Ford cares about/is worrying about FCA/Dodge. The actual sales numbers for these special editions are infinitesimal, at best. And I really think you're downplaying Ford with the 20HP statement (Bullitt?). Have you forgotten the GT350/GT500 and the Mach 1. Where is Dodge's answer to these?

Dodge is building these SE's because their aftermarket cannot do it. Ford and our aftermarket can and do it better for less. Again, why would Ford bother?

Actually I do somewhat. As soon as Ram announced they were installing the Hellcat engine in the TRX, Ford countered with news that the Raptor was getting the GT500 engine. Why does Mustang not get the same respect?

Exactly. That's why they gave us a 5.0 that can handle 1000 hp. They see what's happening out there and their philosophy is 'have at it guys/gals'.
