Door sill removal

First I apologies ahead of time because IM pretty certain I just to scared to pull hard enough that I'm going to brake a clip

Having had the idea today to see how hard it wood be to make my own custom door stills I went to try to pull them off and started to feel stupider and scared I tried just pulling them straight up and it won't come out i know there tape on the bottom but is there a certain trick to pulling it off I got scared after putting a decent amount of pressure I can see the clips through the crack when I pull it and it looks like there going to just brake off???

I'm pretty sure those things can be removed. Not sure how, but I know there are aftermarket door sills you can install. I may be wrong and they are actually door sill covers though.
