So I ordered my mustang 2/12/15 and was told it would be 8-12 weeks, and that I could pretty well plan on 8. I came home found this forum and the great Ford reps who do a good job providing info :ford:.

To date my dealership has not sent me the slightest bit of info about my car. Today is 8 weeks from the day I ordered, and I feel like I should have been contacted. I have the info they could have provided, because I went looking for it on my own. I feel like it is a little petty on my part, but I feel a little snubbed by the lack of communication. It just seems like is not how I would treat someone paying close to 50K for a Ford.

What are the opinions, Am I right for being disappointed in my service, or do I just need to wash the sand out...

My experience is about the same, but I ordered 1/2 and am still waiting for this damn car to arrive. I haven't heard squat from the dealer unless I instigated communication. Pretty lax on their part, really.

And they had my pristine '09 Bullitt sitting in their showroom gathering attention for them for most of this time. ;) Since I've kind of been regretting not keeping it and supercharging it. Oh well, it seems someone snapped it up.

But kudos to the Ford Service peeps on here for supplying useful info, unlike the dealer.

I have been in the same situation. The biggest problem I have is that I don't have much of an option here in Alaska. I honestly can't stand the dealership I am dealing with and haven't for 15 years. They take advantage of young military airmen and are not helpful. All they care about is getting there $$ anyway they can. Good customer relationships isn't that important too them apparently.

I have had the same experience. My dealer has not provided one single update since ordering aside from a couple emails from the fleet manager (and that's after I drove down and tried to get information in person). I'd say I'm very disappointed, but I am conditioned from previous experience to expect poor service from auto dealers.

I went to the dealer on the 03/13/2015 to order a Mustang GT (Premium with performance package, Deep impact blue, Navigation and Premium color accent 68B) and I was told they would order the car the following Thursday 03/19/2015. So I agreed and paid the deposit thanked them and left.

My Focus ST required service so I stop by the dealer 03/20/2015 and had the work done. While there I stopped in the showroom and ask for the Order number and dealer code.

How this is where things get fun. The sales manager told me they had ordered the car and then that they were going to order the car in the same sentence. - Yes - confusing. So I figured OK I will just stop by in another week and I am sure I will get the order details then, I should not be such a pain, in such a rush. I can give them another week, not the end of the world. I called my salesman Friday 03/27/2015 - He said the person with the info I wanted was not in today and I would have to wait until Saturday. He would call me back.

I decide to stop by the dealer Saturday morning as I was out that way anyways.

The salesman and sale manager provided me with a order code and dealer code and VIN and told me the car would arrive next week. I said awesome, thanks, the whole time I was thinking these people are lying to me. I checked the VIN on the ford order tracking website and it was for a car ordered before I even set foot into the dealer (different color, engine, trans etc) - I called back and got the same unprofessional run around. Something about allocation we will order the car, when I snapped and asked have you ordered the car the salesman said yes.

If they have not ordered the car yet because of what ever reason I will be very disappointed but big deal it's only a car.

The problem I have is being lied too. If they had told me up front they couldn't order until what ever date because of XYZ. I probably been cool OK no problem. I am that type of guy.

I found out from the ford customer service people they ordered the car Saturday 3/28. - So yes I was lied too.

50k to Ford about $1500 to the dealership (just a guess). Big difference but none the less you should be treated better by the dealership.

I would say that there has been some improvement with the dealership body over the last 10 years but there is a long way yet for them to go. When I bought my Focus 3 years ago the salesman was not technology oriented at all. Everything was via phone only and emails went unanswered. This time around I am working with the same salesman and I am getting updates and paperwork via email very well. We even handled an order change over email. I was impressed.

But yes, your day in the light will come very soon. Ford will survey you after the delivery and that is your turn to nail 'em. Feedback to Ford is the only way things will get better for those coming behind you.

More then likely your car is done, the only problem is the sexiness of your car. They probably are staring at it right now like eye candy and can't seem to stop.

This.

I don't plan to scorch the earth on the survey mind you, I'll just tell it like it is. A little communication goes a long way. Especially when your delivery date slips again and again.

I'm in northern VA... second ordered Mustang... dealer has never volunteered ANYTHING. I've had to either TELL them or drag it out of them. In fact, the last time I knew exactly what the status was but wanted to see how "helpful" the sales guy would be. His response? "It has only been a few weeks since the order was placed. When the VIN & vehicle status comes available to me, I will let you know." Of course, his boss had already replied with awesome detailed info.

Now I just need them to NOT drill the front bumper for the license plate. I have my sto n sho in hand ready to go.

My car took 5 weeks from order day to delivery........I pick it up today. My dealer (Yocum Ford Lansdale, PA) was absolutely fantastic and gave me unsolicited updates weekly.
