Hello; Never stated it was OK with me, but that it was and has been a threshold for repair for some time. I do not like it if an engine uses half a quart in 3000 miles.Nah, that has never been any standard. Come on, would you be OK with a new Mustang burning a QT of oil every 500 miles? Just think of the environmental impact alone.
I've been wrenching a long time and it's never been OK to burn that much oil.
My dad had a new 1989 GMC 3500 with a 454 that used a quart every 500 since new. GM said nothing they would do unless it reached 400 per quart. He hated that truck. First and last GM truck he ever bought.Nah, that has never been any standard. Come on, would you be OK with a new Mustang burning a QT of oil every 500 miles? I know you didn't...that is why I asked if it was OK with you. More snark.Hello; Never stated it was OK with me, but that it was and has been a threshold for repair for some time. I do not like it if an engine uses half a quart in 3000 miles.
I have been wrenching a long time also and have heard of such a standard. That I discovered a potential for excessive oil consumption in the model year of a new Ford F-150 with the gen III engine was how I wound up on this forum.
400 miles per quart of oil? That would be like a broken ring land or someone put in some wrong rings. My dad had a new 1989 GMC 3500 with a 454 that used a quart every 500 since new. Just install an oil catch can. Put that oil back in the car .problem solvedI know you didn't...that is why I asked if it was OK with you. More snark.
I'd laugh in the service girls face if she told me that is was within spec.
problem solved!Just install an oil catch can. Put that oil back in the car .problem solved

Unfortunately some of the older Gm products like to burn and chang ther own oil .My dad had a new 1989 GMC 3500 with a 454 that used a quart every 500 since new. GM said nothing they would do unless it reached 400 per quart. He hated that truck. First and last GM truck he ever bought.
Depend on how you use the truck400 miles per quart of oil? That would be like a broken ring land or someone put in some wrong rings.
It was a joke .did it "blow-by" you ?Brilliant
It's a feature.Unfortunately some of the older Gm products like to burn and chang ther own oil .
True. Assuming under normal driving conditions. Towing 6 tons isn't.Depend on how you use the truck
I had a 2001 3/4 ton suburban with the 8.1 engine and when towing heavy (12.000 lbs), would use over 1qt per 500 miles
No towing . Would use nada
