Hello all, I swapped my intake manifold on my 2016 Mustang GT due to a misfire and used a 2021 intake. When I started the car last night I notice the idle was strange, but it after a minute it went back to normal so I went for a test drive. I hit about 60 MPH and slowed down for a red light, but when the car came to a complete stop the engine shutoff. I started it again noticed the idle was a little strange again and drove it home slowly. A friend of mine was saying I may need a tune but I’m wondering if I maybe did something wrong. Has anyone run into something similar or have any ideas? By being weird I mean the idle is slightly surging

Which throttle body and intake tube did you use? Did you lock out the IMRCs?

The factory IMRCs harness is not compatible with the 2021 Intake manifold. How did you connect them?

You will need a tune. 18+ manifolds are different than 15-17 manifolds. You will most likely need to lock out the IMRC as well.

As stated 18+ is a nice upgrade over the 15-17 version but requires a tune for the changes. Once you get the tune I would stick with the 18+ oem intake as it flows great and keeps iats down vs other open intake options.

Sooner or later you will get a wrench light for IMRC out of range or something like that.

You need a tune. The stumbling is from the IMRC's not opening and closing at the right time.

Did you get the 21 intake manifold working correctly? Any more misfires? I do love how the 21 intake manifolds are black compared to the 2018 - 2020 intake manifolds. I also swapped my 2016 intake manifold due to a misfire. My does have a tune for the 2018+ intake manifolds as it is required for the imrcs to work correctly and to account for the more airflow that the intake manifold provides. Plus you can rev a lot higher with a new tune on that manifold. Unlocks a decent amount of power. The issue I am having though is that I still continue to get misfires on the new intake. So I was wondering where you stand

You absolutely will need a tune with the 18+ intake manifolds. We have a couple of options that shine very well with those intakes and provide worthwhile power out of them. Lund Racing and Palm Beach Dyno are both two of the best tuners are the markets for these cars. Hit me up if you have any questions about the process or pricing on them. https://www.lethalperformance.com/s...8-gt/2015-2017-ford-mustang-gt/custom-tunes-1

So, read through most of this. Watched some videos that said e-85 and intake weren’t that good. Hard to believe….
So I’m looking to do this to my 17 gt 6mt. What could I expect… 18 mani, 17 throttle body, l&m intake only cams, kooks headers, LU-47 injectors and some sort of intake???
on paper, wouldn’t this be a solid setup? Locking out imrc too.
