I tried using some blue painters tape to protect the front bumper before a 400 mile road trip. It’s a little dorky, but it works!

Did that (but green) on first 2,000 mile return drive from Detroit to Scottsdale in 2016. A neighbor I hadn't ever spoken to except to say Hi was walking by as I pulled into the driveway and commented they were sorry I'd wrecked my car. I told them I haven't taken it to any body shop yet because the police will be watching for that. Received a good bruise to the shin from my wife for that. loL.

Tape got a good workout from 2 days of wind. Should have overlaid starting in back instead of front so air couldn't get under leading edges.

Im picking up a mint original 97 cr250 next month from a buddy. Can't wait to throw a leg over it.

The first year with the aluminum frame. Be very prepared for difficulties throwing it into corners, that bike was notorious for bad handling (coming from someone that raced a 98 125 with the same frame issues as this bad boy).

Don’t mean to sound negative btw, that bike is sweet.

Oh yah, for sure. If I had a year preference on a CR250, it would be a 00 or 01 with the gen 2 AL frame.

This 97 is so clean I had to have it.

That’s around when I finally threw in the towel and switched to four strokes… you can only wring the neck of a 2 Stroke for so long on the racetrack when it looks effortless to walk past you with a thumper…

Congrats on the clean bike though, looks fun as hell.

Totally agree. I grew up a desert rider so I have limited SX or MX experience, but youre exactly right. The 4 strokes understandably dominate most competitions today and for good reason. I currently own a 09 CR450 as well.

At this point (im 44), the 2 smokers are definitely nostalgic for my family and more fun to ride on the weekends. We wouldn't want to compete on them though.

Where did you get the stripes? I’m thinking about putting them on mine. Mine is Oxford white and blue is exactly what I would want to do.

Got board of my original carbon fiber mirror covers and went with the BMW style dry carbon fiber mirror covers. Installation was easy and already got some compliments but will get some haters too. Sometimes we get bored of the "stock look" but can always go back to stock anytime right!
