Thought I’d run a poll about this. I have been researching it since I wasn’t too educated about it and am unsure about whether or not it would be a good option. Personally, mine won’t be tracked and more for leisure driving. Also, wondering if covering the Vinyl Stripes with those of us that got them would help keep them looking fly. I know many of us will be taking deliveries soon and it’s good to do this earlier rather than later. Post up your good and bad experiences!

I would vote but i wont be getting a GT500... but yes.. lol, i ceramic coated our 19 Mazda 3. doesnt need to be a expensive car to ceramic coat it. do it you wont regret it.

That said i do my own paint correction and coating. self taught from YT and experience of trying. it wasnt hard but my Mustang took over 2 weeks and went into "deep sleep" mode doing it a couple hours a day every evening after work. the mazda i knocked out in a weekend. its not as hard as it looks. but its not "so easy a idiot" could do it. need to pay attention to what you are doing. Then again if you are buying 100k cars probably doesn't matter to drop a few k and get it coated and film protected.

Yes on the ceramic no on the PPF - too much maintenance on the latter

I’m the opposite. Definitely doing the PPF to protect against rock chips, but not doing the ceramic.

Im a 100% on paint correct and ceramic, got a quote for $1800. Decided no on PPF due to cost and my limited driving and not tracking the car.

Full PPF to protect that 10K paint job.

Dont ceramic coat a PPF. PPF is soft and self healing. Ceramic is a hard coat. Dont put that over a soft material.

Thanks I was not planning on full PPF just front basically A pillar forward and ceramic the rest but you said full PPF had not thought that way but maybe a better option

Actually ceramic coating over PPF has a lot of advantages. There is ceramic coating specifically for PPF. You might want to check out.

I have ceramic pro on my current vehicle and I'm happy with the condition of the paint 4.5 years and 28k miles later. Just to add, it's also black! I like the idea of film but I haven't seen I car yet that my OCD would be happy with. Both are good options but would you rather see edges/seems or a chip hear or there? My only question is how ceramic pro will do on vinyl stripes?

No. A hard brittle coating over a soft surface is a bad idea.

There are ceramic coatings specific for vinyl or matte finishes. It may even be the same product used on PPF but I’ve never had a ceramic coated car that had vinyl on it so can’t give you a first hand account.

I’d personally rather have a good installer and a good PPF than rock chips. A good installer can wrap edges and hide a lot of lines but some I will say areas of the front bumper can be really difficult to hide.
