Akins has had most of those Mach 1’s since March. I tried 2% under and they laughed. I’ll get the last laugh when I do a burnout in front of their dealership.
Gwinnett Ford said they could do 2% under then changed their minds. I’ll be sure to do a burn out in front of them too.
Sorry, I don't get the anger over a company not wanting to discount their product. Do you walk into the grocery and demand they discount your purchase?? Do you demand the gas station discount your fuel?
And 2% on a $60k car is what, $1200. Hardly seems worth getting worked up over or denying yourself for. And it's not like they are trying to add ADM like many other dealers are.
Yes, you could buy out of State but a fair amount of any savings you might see will be eaten up in getting there and getting the car back.
I just don't understand the anger...

I have to agree with this. If 2% ($1200) stops you from buying a $60K car, so be it, but no reason to get all angry over it, do a burnout etc.....Not sure you got the last laugh with all cool cars in such limited supply right now. You only live once and cannot put a price on happiness. Spend that $1200 savings on something you really want other than a new Mustang if that does it for you.

Hello; For me the problem is the dealers spoiled me for a long time. Well let me go back to my earliest dealership experiences. When young I paid what a dealership told me was a good deal. Later on I began to learn you could do better if you walked away. First time I walked was simply because I could only afford so much and the dealer said no. So I went home disappointed. The dealer called in a few days saying they could make the deal. Got me to thinking.

I have since gotten substantial discounts on a few vehicles. I also have been turned down many more times and did not get a deal. My brother sets out to buy a car and will have a new one in one or two days. I can take months to work a deal because it has worked in the past. So now I expect a deal and will walk if one is not given.

Yes $1200 is enough to walk from a deal. I have found it best to have a price in mind before you see the dealer. Do your homework at home and have a set number in mind. Buy if the dealer meets the price. Walk if he does not.
I also do not do finance at a dealer any more. Too many angles to keep up with. I have the money in place before i step foot at a dealer.

Last story. A few decades ago my mother was wanting anew car. I found a new last years model and worked a decent deal out for her. It was an Oldsmobile and she wanted a Pontiac. She went on her own to a local dealer who had a new last years model Pontiac. Turned out they got sticker price out of her on a year old car.

Try it some time. Work a deal with a dealer and get down to the best price the dealer claims they can do. Offer then $1,200 less and get up and leave. You may get a call soon, I have.

Anyway some of us old timers expect a deal just because we got use to getting one.

Yeah, and time was you'd never pay asking price for real estate either. You could almost always negotiate down some.
In most of today's housing markets you have to bid over asking and hope someone doesn't bid more. Oh yeah, and you better make your bid within minutes of listing otherwise it will be gone.

Times change but at 66 I hope I've got enough self control to not get angry over something as trivial as a dealer wanting to get sticker price (not more, just list) on a new, special edition, likely fairly limited run sports car.

While I don't disagree with your sentiment and I'm not sure a burnout is called for. The 2% is below invoice which amounts to around $4000 in savings depending on equipment.

I pulled the trigger on my 2021 GT Premium at the end of April. The two dealers closest to me had no Mustang inventory then, and neither was willing to work with me to get the car I wanted. I wound up driving an hour to a dealer out of state.

My advice to anyone in the market is don’t wait. The chip shortage will likely impact Mustang availability into the fall.

Zack,

I'm having trouble with your math.
If $4000 is 2% under invoice then invoice must be around $200k.
The ones he referenced are listed on line for $59,xxx.xx. If that's invoice (idk, is it?) 2% is $1200. Maybe he wants 2% out the door which would put the actual discount off the car at approximately $6000 or around 10% maybe a little more.

I think the issue is the difference between MSRP and invoice we're miscommunicating on.

On this unit attached for example the pricing breakdown is as follows:
MSRP $61,200
Invoice $58,149
Sale price $56,949

2% under invoice is more than $1200. The cars at Akins have been there for months and will continue to sit there.
When a dealer gives you a deal in writing and then walks back on it I’d say I have every right to be pissed.
You can spend your money how you want and I’ll spend my money how I want.
Ok pumpkin?

I never thought to look before. But One GT in a 20 mile radius. Several Mach-e’s. Interesting.

Not many here in Western NC. My dealer had one PP1 and one EB last week. This week I have not looked yet.

This bs needs to give!
