I needed a ramp to change oil on my car and the race ramps ones with the extender came in at 350 and in the short term in not inclined to drop that right before winter so I looked at some DIY Ramps. The most promising ones used 2X10s stacked.

I didnt feel like carrying a 2X12 home and a ramp made from them I think would be very heavy so I have the idea to use 4X4s.

Materials
2 8 foot 4X4 ($8 dollars each)
Everything below I had laying around
X feet of 12X1 (I used 10X1 I had laying around)
Deck screws

Tools (I used)
Screw Gun
Circular Saw
Compound Miter Saw

I cut the 4X4X8 in half to get 4X4X4
I then took a 14" peice of wood and drew a line to make a ramp

I originally did 50 degrees but the car pushed the ramps.

The rest of the pictures are self explanatory

Finished product below the cut outs are for the front splitter im not sure in the final version if it was necessary

They work well If you cut a 4X4X10 in half you can have more steps for a little more height but they might be in the way if you want to change the oil

I made it 12 inchs wide (295 Tire)

EDIT:
Use at your own risk
This design is not made for you to move the car around on, just on and off. While is strong for direct down force if for some reason you were going to go on the ramps and then jack up one side higher I would probably used higher quality wood, longer screws, glue between the boards any maybe a wider base.

Be careful with the bricks, they've been known to completely fail and people die. They aren't mean to be loaded like that.

The cyinderblock was there in case I over shot the ramp I didnt add stoppers. Aside from that once the car is on the ramps its on stacked wood its not less safe the stands (which I have)

I may get the ramps or rails (more likely) in the spring. I like the idea of the rails but not the weight,I don't have a second set of wheels so I don't think I'll have a reason to be under that cast that often.

A cinder block like that isn't going to fail from downward pressure there would have to be movement

Just my approach YMMV

If you can afford a GT350 you can afford $35 for a set of ramps.

The ramps are 350. If they where 35 it would be a no brainer.
i saw a post here yesterday from a guy who thought race ramps were $2,500 and now this guy thinks they are $35...Were do these people come from?

For $350 which includes the extenders (Required), it's really worth it. They are solid, super light and when you get the car up, you can remove 2/3rds of it for great side access.

Over your life time of oil changes, it's really not too bad of an expense.

Johnb it's funny that you posted that I was going to make a post if anyone has used that lift I'm trying to decide if im going to get that one or one from a company called ez lift which uses a drill to lift.I do a lot of work on my other cars and since my primary garage is only a 1car garage these would be my only choices
