Curious before I try something weird with my wiring if anyone has ever tried to make it so the parking lamps are disabled?

I noticed after seeing my wife drive our Mustang today that at night it looks bizarre with these bright white switchback LEDs lit up, and then right under them these foglights as well. That combined with the fact that we have headlight gills that also light up, as well as our headlights, it would seem that the parking lamps/running lamps are actually totally redundant.

On my 2013 GT this was part of the design, as at night you just saw the headlights on and the DRLs that looked like =O O= (the equal signs) and then behind it they only lit up when the turn signals were used.

vs O \\\ /// O on our cars.

the 2012 Mustang GT didn't have those DRLs so the parking lamps were then lit.

here's some examples... 2012 vs 2013.

I can see the need for the international crowd to have them, as in other markets they don't have the gills.. so they find ways to make the gills work.

we have both, so I want to find a way for the parking lamps to not light up, except for as needed for the turn signal.

I might experiment tomorrow with this with just the pins on my parking lamps. hmmmm

I kinda sort of did this on my 2013 to a degree.

I put LED bulbs in it, but they hyperflashed. since the "low" filament wasn't being used anyway I crossed it with the "high" filament and they lit normally and didn't hyperflash.

this requires some real experimentation tomorrow.

I don't know if I would turn them off on mine but you would think that someone, somewhere would figure out how to reprogram the lighting on the new Mustang so you could change certain features.
