So, does anyone know how many 2018 S550’s were produced? It’s seems like it was a very short production run out of all the S550’s, considering many are or have ordered 2019’s already.

I'm not sure that data would be available yet since they are still making them. But, I believe the first ones rolled out in October 2017 and the last production date is supposed to be 6/13/2018, so about 8 months or so is pretty short.

Yep, we are the rarest, and obviously most valuable model year. Museums will be clambering at our heels!

I just recently read 2018 production was cut off early so Ford can claim bragging rights on the 2019s, but naturally, I forget where I read it beyond it was on the website of a print magazine as opposed to a blog.

Sept 2017 to May for 2018 model year. They switched over in June for 2019 I believe.

IIRC production ceased on the 2018 around 6/13 and started on the 2019 the next day 6/14. So around 9 1/2 months.

This is great information! The blend date of my 18 is 06-12-2018.

That's probably one of the last-built ones, then. Mine was a mid or late May car. I think my VIN ends with 184406; the highest VIN I've seen for an '18 was 185XXX.

At the end of July I think there had been sales of about 49,000 (but the number produced is still higher of course, since there are lots of '18s still on the lots).

My VIN ends with 183703. I am not sure how ford assigns it. Cotus listed it as in production on 6/14. It was delivered on 6/27. I picked it up on 6/30.

I have a blend date of 06/13/2018.

FYI, the sequence number, or last 5 digits of the VIN, does not reflect the position in the build queue. In other words a sequence number of 83845 does not necessarily mean it was built before a car with a sequence number of 83849.

My VIN is 171104, probably a late build? I just bought it 2 weeks ago but it was off the lot and I don't know how long it was on the lot. M/T cars sell very slowly and are hard to come by here where I live due to the demographics- mostly older retired folks. They want and can drive only automatics and the dealerships order mostly automatics as a result. The sales guys are amazed that I not only that I can drive a manual but so well.

I wonder if this is why I got such a good deal- late in the year, base car and M/T? I got 2500 rebate, paid 33k for my base GT. I paid more for my 2LT Camaro V6 last year- 36.5K.

With a 71104 sequence number I am thinking your blend date is the mid-April 2018 time frame.

If there were about 49,000 built for 2018, there must have been a large chunk of numbers skipped in the VIN sequence. My 2018 was built in 11/17 and my VIN is 100753. Anyone know why, and which numbers were skipped?
