Love this. Only skimmed the detail. This is a "grab a cuppa and a snack" kinda read. Very timely as I've decided I need to do a bit of a bulk buy of products very soon.

Great body of work DFB!

I‘m not deep enough into it yet to have tried many of these products but I can tell you one of his winners I totally love, and that’s the TRC’s Rip n’ Rag roll towel. Terrific concept and product. They even sell an XL version that’s a full 16x16 and 280 GSM, yet still less than a buck per each! They are extremely soft and can be used for most anything with no guilt if you choose to bin it. I often use them for the heavy lifting on wax/product removal then finish up with a thicker plush towel for final buffing. Really saves your more expensive towels.

Did I mention less than a buck?

I just got my roll of Ultra ones today :) I have been using the regular ones for a while now. went thru 1 small roll, then a large one. They are awesome and VERY handy. And wash well if you chose to keep them. I use them around the house for a bit of everything, wash when I can or "bin" them if I ruin them with no guilt whatsoever. Not so much on my really good towels :)

Exactly!

Plus they’re excellent on glass!

Previous to the Rip'n'Rag, I was using something similar sold at a auto store -

Eclipse Microfibre Cloths 30 x 30cm 50Pk - EMFC50PK - Eclipse | Repco Australia

I was quite content with them, at $0.65c each they were perfect for jobs I was using them for. You will also note they are 200 gsm compared to the 180 gsm TRC version. However, I ordered a box of the R'n'R's to try, which for me work out at $0.79c per towel.

The first thing I noticed was how much softer and more absorbent the TRC's are. I went looking for the blend of the Repco towels and note they don't publish a figure, which persuadably is where they get the cost down by offering a leaner polyamide ratio, probably 80/20 or 90/10. The TRC's are 70/30. (Polyamide is what provides the absorbency and softness)

Does this mean I'll have to buy the Ultra's too? Bugger! :giggle:

At $44.95 USD for a 50 ct. boxed roll, plus a full 16x16 @280 GSM I was left with no choice myself! But far be it for me to be an enabler…🤣

I was actually shocked at how much BIGGER the Ultra roll is. The roll is several inches taller, so the rags will be bigger. I haven't pulled one off and looked at it yet. My last roll of "regular" ones I got a roll from Auto Fiber, again I haven't used any yet since we are in the throes of winter here in TN.... BUT, I will definitely be giving them a try soon. :)

Size difference between the regular Rip n Rag and the Ultra. The Ultra is quite a bit bigger. And softer... Much tighter weave too...

and that’s the TRC’s Rip n’ Rag roll towel.
I concur with all that's been said about these rag rolls. After picking up a roll of the small version, I loved them so much I grabbed a roll of the XL's. Love them too but find I use the smaller version more frequently but when I need a larger towel, the XL's are the bomb. Highly recommended.
