Looking for a deep tone cat-back that has no drone. Anyone have ideas? Is an H-pipe definitely the way to go for that deep rumble?

An H pipe is going to give you that deeper old school tone, an x is going to have more rasp. Hit me up and we can get you hooked up for sure; tons of options to get the exact sound you want. www.beefcakeracing.com

I just ordered the mbrp street cat back from beefcake. From all the stiluff I heard it has a pretty deep tone to it at idle up to around 3-4000 rpms. I will post some videos and dyno numbers when I get them

I got this same system from Beefcake and I get nothing but complements in it.
Did you get stainless?

I got a borla atak cat back from beefcake also. He gave me a good price and delivered weeks ahead of schedule. He actually called me and let me know it will be 3 weeks because of out of stock, but it got there like a week.

it is a lot louder than I thought. I have watch pretty much all the videos of borla atak and s type. However, I think you would have to listen in person to decide. The sound in the videos do not really show true actual sound. The videos let me chose the borla atak, so now I am thinking about get the borla s type and to sell the atak. It has been on the car a week and I hope I can live with it, so I don’thave to sell it

Pypes Pype bomb cat back is a very nice deep rumble (i have it) but it does drone at at 2k rpm. I had it installed with the H-Pipe and it was too much for me.

No I got the aluminized. I plan on painting it with some high temp paint but we don’t get a lot of salt on the roads around here

Too much as in too loud or too much drone?

Too loud and the drone was magnified at 2k....like rattle your filings out. I can steer clear of the specific rpm and do most of the time. the pypes pype bombs have no muffler.

How is the drone on the highway?

I have the factory resonator now so as long as I am not lugging up a hill it is not noticeable. when it hits 2k and begins to see load, I am forced to change gears. Drives the wife crazy if I do not shift but I am ok with it.

The varex variable exhaust is what I may switch to next, it has a nice low rumble and is not loud from reviews but apparently has no drone.

Borla/FRPP 'touring' has a really nice tone IMO and if instead of the resonators you put in a Steeda H-pipe it sounds really good. NO drone.
