So I have the spoiler delete on my car and find it almost impossible to keep the top of the trunk free from fingerprint sized dents from closing the trunk I assume. I already had my PDR guy push them all out once and now i have them in a different area on the trunk. Very frustrating to see how thin and cheap the metal is on these cars. I'm debating picking up the OEM track pack spoiler to cover up the area and provide a handle for closing the trunk. If I go this route i'll still have to have my PDR guy take some of the other small dings out that wouldn't be covered up. So the spoiler plus that would be close to $700.

Or do I bite the bullet and just put a carbon fiber trunk on the car for $750ish with discount code from CJPP and never have to deal with the weakness of the oem trunk again. Any input on the strength of the carbon trunks? Not entirely sure how the carbon trunk would look considering I have nothing else carbon on the car at the moment.

Stop closing the trunk that way...sheesh.

Someone makes straps that you can use that work wonderfully, and they're inside the trunk so no fingerprints, or in your case...dents.

I know better then to close the trunk that way after learning the hard way. So this must have been from letting someone else close the trunk. But either way how pathetic is it to know that we can't close our trunks just like any other trunk because it dents if you sneeze on it.

Just remove the struts and replace with a prop rod. Then the trunk will fall shut with no need for those strangers to push on it. ;)

:headbonk:I was thinking about removing one of the struts to make closing the trunk easier but didn't want to break anything and couldnt figure out how to get them off.

I've never had an issue with closing the trunk. I just don't want to get greasy fingerprints on my black piece when I close it.

I was joking about completely getting rid of the struts but, yeah, getting rid of one would put twisting forces on the hinges, etc.. So not a good idea anyway.

As you said, you don't close it too hard and there probably aren't that many "others" that you refer to. Best payback is to educate them.

If they are forgetful, leave a box labeled Nitroglycerin in the trunk as a self learning aid. Should drastically cut down on trunk slamming.

Seriously - how hard are you slaming it to get dents in the deck lid? If thats a problem - take your hand off BEFORE it hits the latch. Push down and then let go. I know the panels are thin but - dude quit Hulking out when you slam the lid!!!!

Oh and get one of the those straps that Ford puts in all their other cars.

Well by the research I've done on here I'm not the only one who is having this problem, I am by no means slamming the trunk thats for sure. I've closed many trunks in my day and this is the first time I've seen this.

I am by no means slamming or ever slammed the trunk. So if you have no indentations then just remain cautious, or if your like me, keep the PDR guy on speed dial:lol:

I ended up biting the bullet and ordered the track pack wing from Levittown Ford, and will also be having the PDR guy clean up the trunk one more and hopefully final time.

I put one of these stickers on the top of my trunk.

Seriously, I put a strip of XPEL across the lower edge of the black panel, and I always close the trunk by pushing there. So I will never scratch that panel. Yes, the trunk lid sheet metal really is thin.
