Daytime dash lights? Mine turn on when the sun is out but on cloudy days they are off and hard to se

My dash is the analog in a 19 GT, as I said during the sunny day the cluster lights up but on cloudy days it is off and hard to see while driving, is it sensor switched? And or a switch to activate it? I do have a dash cover over the dash, perhaps it's causing this?

Did you cover the little nub in the center of the dash with your cover? That's the solar sensor and it's what the computer uses to determine when to turn on the autolamps and the interior lighting values.
