Cutting with a Sawzall

How (and I cannot stress this enough) the f***, do you make a straight cut in any type of pipe with a dang sawzall?? Is it even possible? Had to cut a tail pipe yesterday and it was a stark reminder that it cannot be done. Well, I sure as hell can't do it, LOL. Never have.

Is there a trick? Can it be done?

I just keep the sawzall right up against what I am cutting.

Slow and easy and don't use an aggressive blade, and keep the guide fence up against the material.
