2019 R. First oil change was done by me at 500 miles this past march.
Car currently Has 1900 miles on it, no signs of oil consumption. Car runs strong !!!!
I did an oil change last week before I put it away for the winter.
I decided to cut open the filter to look inside. I found some small, glitter-like particles inside the filter.
I did my best to capture them in the picture but it was difficult to do so.
There were no chunks, it was more like dust particles/glitter.
The biggest pieces were like the one on my thumb, nothing bigger than that.
I know the engine’s internals are still wearing in at 1900 miles.
But, when it comes to engine internals wearing in I am used to seeing the brown “sludge” you get on magnetic oil drains. Not this shimmery stuff.
what do you guys think?
