Hey Chaps,
Just had my decklid sent through from a chap on the forums, it was marked as a personal item, and no money has been exchanged for this.
My understanding is that 'personal items' items sent overseas would be exempt from VAT.
The parcel sent was uninsured and had no valuation on it, however, the Customs has deemed the 'VAT' to be £38 (Which values my parcel at c£190), along with fee's for:
Customs duty: £5.61
Import VAT: £38.58
Clearance Fee (Zero rated for VAT): £8.00
Looks to me like they're trying to rob me blind - does anyone know how i address this?
Equally, i'm unsure how they've pulled an Import VAT of near £40 valuing a rear decklid at a whopping £200! :frusty:
