Here's my progression on making a nice, vector art version of that R:

r-process.jpg

That only took about three hours. I ended up doing it by hand, because you just can't live-trace something with as much noise in it as embroidery has. BUT the embroidery was *mostly* in the correct shape.

@Woody25 @Dominator961 @zzrat how does this design look to you?

I’m a BUYER! Love it.

How do I order the same GT350R knob with the snake on the side?
Will they have your design on file so I can place an order?

Looks great. Guess I will have to order one when they get that design.

Billetworkz has the design. Go to their contact us and mention that you want the GT350R shift pattern.

Awesome work with the pattern. Just an idea... Have you tried to center that 'GT350R' text in the pattern? Will it look different?

It is centered if you omit the reverse.

I centered it on the 3/4 gate, same as the GT350 pattern.

I thought you did that. I was curious how it would look if centered on the center of the whole pattern.

Tried it, looks real awkward to be honest. Your eyes are drawn to the GT350 and you notice it's offset. Stretch it out like I have it and it looks balanced.

Also, the size of it (because of the stripe running through the letters) is already testing the limits of what laser engraving can do. If you make the GT350 much smaller as you describe, that stripe will disappear.

It makes sense. It looks really good like this already :)

I got asked about how this knob works with an MGW shifter in a PM, but this may be useful to someone else so I'll post it here:

The MGW has two thread patterns in one, the M12x1.25 that other S550's have on the bottom, and the M10x1.25 that's native to the GT350 on top. This is for stock knob compatibility, but you can also (for instance) run a MGW gripper knob in M12x1.25. You're just limited on how high you can have it.

My setup is the MGW OEM knob adapter in M12x1.25 and I had Billetworkz thread the knob for the standard GT350 M10x1.25. Actually, the knob isn't threaded for that, it's some much larger threads and they include a M10x1.25 thread adapter and hex M10x1.25 jam nut. I did not use the hex jam nut, I instead replaced it with the MGW OEM knob adapter.

The MGW OEM knob adapter is essentially a jam nut that approximates the size of the reverse lockout collar. You can get one here, it's the second "Add to Cart" button: https://mgwshifters.com/shifters/mustangs/139
