Welcome to the community. You did the right thing asking the forum for advice. I would recommend that you avoid impulse buying with regard to your car especially if you are looking for longevity.

I'm going to be brutally blunt.

Leave the engine the fuck alone!

Let me repeat that.

Do not modify the damn engine!

You have an Ecoboost with 150k on it. An engine that can be temperamental in the best of cases. Mod any thing else you want, exhaust, suspension, interior, whatever.
Unless you have a spare $4000 - $7000 around leave the engine the fuck alone!

But weirdly:

Seems pointless to me šŸ˜¬ but I'm sure it sounds cool

Unless something has drastically changed since, my experience has been when you start adding new power adders to engines with 150k on them, it may run well, but unfortunately, not for long. That was an old recipe to blow a timing chain or worse.

EBs blow headgaskets. My cylinder #3 weeped coolant into the combustion chamber with 3000 miles left on warranty. Before I found out it was still under warranty I called a dozen mechanics in my area. None would touch it, they all said to replace the engine. I went so far as to buy the cam timing tool to do it myself before I got warranty approval. Ford dealer finally replaced the gasket after waiting 6 weeks for an appointment and keeping the car another 15 days.
Edit: To add misery to misfortune, burning the coolant managed to destroy the catalytic converter. I live in an area that requires passing emissions and a bad cat won't. The cat failed after all warranties expired. Ford wants $1600 for the cat. The only aftermarket one I could find was a high flow cat, which presents its own problems.

The kid really, really needs to leave the engine alone, really!

I used to have an Eco and have to ask why you want the BOV in the first place? Is your intention just to hear the hiss? If so, I wouldnā€™t install it. If you want to hear the turbos better and youā€™re still with the stock exhaust, put a high flow air filter in rather than a paper on and the exhaust will sound cooler. I used either a K&N or AFE and I thought it sounded better than stock.

If you are racing the car and slapping a huge blower on there, sure put a BOV and a tune on but otherwise it seems like more trouble than itā€™s worth on an engine out of warranty at 150k miles.

Also, if youā€™re 18 and driving a mustang, even an eco, your insurance rates probably suck and Iā€™d be reeeeaaaallll careful about doing anything to mod the car because at your age and I hate to say it, you wonā€™t get any benefit of the doubt if insurance gets involved in something like an accident. Letā€™s say you accidentally rear end somebodyā€¦at 18 with ā€œengine modsā€, literally nobody will believe you when you say you werenā€™t racing or showing off.

It would be a real shame to get cucked by a BOV that doesnā€™t even add any HP or make the car faster.

That being said, I decided against the BOV because the only benefit I could see is the hiss and I didnā€™t want my Mustang hissing at anybody. I then went out and bought a GT.

You're young and financially also, so just keep it stock, keep up with maintenance, is my advice. When you're older and financially comfortable, then mod all you want.

Are you doing alright now? Getting all the help you need? I know some people that have been suicidal and I know that is a burden that is incredibly difficult to overcome. I know I don't know your specific situation, but I promise you that the world is a better place with you in it and I hope you never forget that. Don't let jerks like KingKona convince you otherwise. This forum brings us all together because of cars, yes, but that is only the surface for many of us. If you ever need anyone to talk to, even a stranger, you don't hesitate to DM me.
^^^^^^ This! Always there to help anyone in this situation!

Says every old person on the forum.
Thatā€™s a gift. Because, if youā€™re smart, youā€™ll take the old guyā€™s advice. Been there done that already. But, if you think your latest firmware of human is somehow impervious to other versions previous mistakes, have fun!

This really isn't the place to dump out your purse of personal issues. We're just here to talk cars.

I am doing far better now. Have gotten my Bi-polar mostly under control and now have a girlfriend. It's nice to see that most people don't just put others down when they talk about their feelings.

Iā€™ve had KingDoofus on ignore for a long time, guy is an absolute asshat when thereā€™s no reason to be one.

OP, hope youā€™re doing ok and can get any help you need. Regarding impulse buys, yeah weā€™ve all done it. Some turn out great others not so much, live and learn. As others have mentioned youā€™ll likely want a tune, find a good tuner, thatā€˜s half the battle. Iā€™m not tuned so I donā€™t have any recommendations but thereā€™s plenty of folks here that can help you out. Enjoy your ride!
Thanks for the support and I'm doing far better now. I have decided to return the item once it gets here and may decide to get a C&L bypass adaptor but I'm not sure if that will also hurt the car.
