Hello everybody

is there a metal oil-pan for the Mustang GT from 2018 as a replacement for the plastic-oil pan for the automatic transmission?

if so, does anyone have a link to it?

I'm trying, among other things, to improve the cooling of the automatic transmission.

the automatic transmission gets too hot very quickly,
here on the German Autobahn 🥵

Yes, there is an aftermarket pan for the 10R80 transmission and ways of cooling it better.

Here ya go, Post 1, Page 1, scroll down to the 10R80 cooling and/or aftermarket trans pan sections:

Do the 1080Rs have trans coolers?

You might have a bigger issue. Normally, my transmission takes forever to get up to temperature even on the highway with spirited driving.

Also, the operating temperature of the unit is 205*F (97*C) to 215*F (102*C). Anything below that is technically considered not up to operating temp yet, and you should not worry if you see it right in that range. Once you get above 225*F (107*C) is when you should start worrying or backing off to cool down.

No, there is no problem or defect.

it depends on the speed.

From the range of 280km/h or 175mph, the AT simply runs hot because the cooling is no longer sufficient.

My Mustang is no longer limited and there is no speed limit on German Highways.

Up to 250km/h (155mph) everything is fine.

What is "hot"? What have you seen as far as temps?

Also speed in general doesn't have as much to do with heat as does RPMs and load. I can heatup the trans faster going 35mph in 1st gear than you can going 175mph in 10th. Also the faster you go, the more airflow you get through the grill.

Oh no,

you're wrong.

the cooling of the Mustangs AT is undersized for this speed.

If I turn the gears up to over 280km/h (175mph) for a few kilometers in manual mode, the AT heats up very quickly.

that means I drive 280km/h (175mph) in 8th gear.

see the picture.

from this point the system reduces the performance.

up to 250km/h (155mph) everything is fine.

the cooling is sufficient for that.

You still haven't really said what temp it gets to after those kilometers. From that picture, you're around 90* C (almost 2 ticks from the 100*C mark). Technically, you're not even at the designed operating temperature of the transmission yet. You're not even close to the orange/red markings in the gauge.

If your performance is reduced at this point, it's not because of trans temperature. What is your CHT?

the image is not a live image.
I don't photograph my speedometer at 175mph.

the red arrow indicates the onset of the problems.

So from 100°C the problems start.

the limpmode is activated and I can't downshift due to the temperature.

only again when I'm significantly slower.

the car has an increase in performance with an open air filter and at the same time no vmax limitation.

the switching points from gear 6 were also set higher.

others here in Germany also have these heat problems like me after the increase in performance.

You don't have to get in the red before the problems start,

at least here in Europe we also have a different specification of the Mustang.

for example, we have a petrol particulate filter
(although this is not directly related to the AT.)

Like mentioned, Stop worrying unless you go above 107°C......
