I’m retired now…For a few decades I was a production machinist for GE that made jet engines for the military. My last job through retirements I was able to upgrade to Test Cell mechanic. I was part of a maintenance crew that maintained/repaired anything related to the test cells/engines and was constantly around jet engines being tested / assembled…Best part was being in the control room watching and listening when they tested a 404/414 going into afterburner during testing.

It's tough for me to pick a favorite.
I have been:
- A Food Critic for High-End restaurants
- An Exotic Car Rental Company test driver
- A Beer/Wine/Liquor test taster
- A sex doll tester
- The Happy Ending Masseuse for the Dallas Cowboy CHEERLEADERS

And those are just the boring ones... I don't think I should mention the really fun ones, since that would only seem like I am making this stuff up.

Not the highest paying job but it was pretty decent money and by far my favorite was working auto sales at a vw/jeep dealership. I met so many girls in that place lol :inlove:

Plain clothes cop in the Tenderloin
I work near the tenderloin and I've never seen so many crazy people in one place. SF is the only place i've seen where if you tell a homeless person you don't have any change they tell you they have cash app.

That’s the point I was trying to make in the first post. Working in a bar or restaurant. (I did both) was some much fun when I was young. Girls and alcohol everywhere. I started working in heavy industry a few years after high school. Power plants, refineries, that kind of work. You get to play with billions of dollars worth of equipment and the pay is just silly good. But it isn’t fun. It’s work. When my son got outta High School he played in a band for a few years til he learned you’re never gonna make shit playing in a bar band. Then he moved up to a grown up job. He’s doing great now. But if money was no object. I bet he’d still rather be playing that guitar and sleeping all day.:like:

Coolest job would be installing wine cellars. High end houses and some were really cool. Not as many cool cars or trophy wives as you would think though. Love me some finish carpentry and it never bothered me our work was rarely appreciated as much as we did.

2 for different reasons.
Data entry for a buddy doing performance parts sales online. I filled out the ads, added photos, etc worked from home, as many hours as I wanted, paid cash, got to listen to music/tv while I worked. Was great while it lasted.
Current job, casualty adjuster. It’s a love/hate thing. It’s fun to be able to help people when something bad happened and to give someone a big check, negotiate with attorneys who know nothing about their case, hear some great stories about why there was an accident. Downside is since people can’t drive there are a lot of claims, sucks denying claims/liability.

very cool.....I was a field service engineer years ago for a company that built land based turbine engine generator and compressor sets. No substitute for hands on learning.

Yeah , it was a fun time and a great way to end my career there. When I first started working with GE way back in the early 80's I ran a manual engine lathe in Turbine. The plant had both a Turbine & Aircraft Divisions which later closed the turbine part and I moved to the Aircraft Division.

I graduated high school early and worked as a mechanic at a Yamaha dealership before starting college. Best 6 months a kid could have.

ours were babies compared to a GE Frame 5....we topped out around 15,000HP.
remember the first one I worked on...in a block house as backup power for a toll both..around 350HP and spun up at 32,000 rpm. Like a rocket taking off. Scared the daylights out of me
I would say working as a field engineer on that type of rotating equipment was my coolest job...but the hours sucked!
